salon and how to deal with them. Health and safety practices is very important also to
make workplace a safe, secure, and healthy place for the worker as well as the clients.

HAZARD AND RISK IN BEAUTY SALON

Hazard – is something with potential to cause harm.


Risk – is the likelihood of the hazard’s potential being realized.

A. PHYSICAL HAZARD
- are workplace hazard that can cause harm or stress to the body.
Examples:
 Noise
 Heating devices
 Moving machinery accidents
B. MECHANICAL HAZARD
- refer to machineries that have the potential to cause harm to the people and the
property.
Examples:
 Shearing
 Straining and spraining
 Puncturing
C. BIOLOGICAL HAZARD
- are biological agents that can cause harm to the human body.

F. ENVIRONMENTAL HAZARD
- is a type of hazard caused by chemical, biological and pollution which has a
potential to threaten the workers and clients in the salon surrounding natural
environmental and adversely affect people’s health.
