In 102 A.D., paper was made from pulp in China. In the early days, paper was available only to
those who could afford it - the rich.
China did not share its secret of making paper. But it is said that a Buddhist monk carried this
secret with him to Korea and Japan.
Soon, the Japanese started paper folding. It became a part of their culture and religion. For
example, gifts were exchanged in the form of ‘Noshi’. Noshi was a paper folded with a piece of
dried fish or meat. Noshi was exchanged as a gift and was supposed to bring good luck.
Around 1797, a book called ‘How to Fold a Thousand Cranes’ was published. The crane is supposed
to be the sacred bird of Japan and it was believed that if a person folded a thousand cranes, he/she
would be granted one wish.
‘Window on Midwater’ was another book about Origami published in 1845. This book showed
how to make 150 different Origami items.

A fortune teller is a form of origami used in children's games.

15. The infinitive form of a verb is the verb in its basic form, with or without ‘to’. It is also the
version of the verb that appears in the dictionary.
english4tutors®
When you use a full infinitive verb, the ‘to’ is part of the verb, not a preposition. An infinitive
verb is never conjugated.
Example: They went from walking to running really quickly.
You may think that ‘to running’ is an infinitive but the ‘-ing’ ending means it is not. This is a
gerund.
19. The infinitive without 'to' is called the bare infinitive, or the base form of a verb. This is
the verb’s most basic form.
Examples: talk, eat, play, dance
While the bare infinitive is the verb’s most basic form, it can be used as the main verb after the
verb do, or most modal auxiliary verbs like can, may, might, could, should, would, will, and must.
