The speaker feels constantly judged by their sins and unable to lift their head high or find happiness again without this person. They are left standing on an endless road, never having a chance to properly say goodbye or thank the person, and wish they could bring them back to ignite their soul once more.

    I can't hold my head up high
    It's getting really hard to laugh
