“An Investigation study on gumamela extract

and ylang-ylang extract as alternative
component in making fabric conditioner.”

INTRODUCTION / BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY

THIS STUDY EXPLORES THE POTENTIAL OF GUMAMELA AND YLANG-YLANG EXTRACTS AS ALTERNATIVE COMPONENTS IN
FABRIC CONDITIONER. GIVEN THE INCREASING DEMAND FOR SUSTAINABLE PRODUCTS, EXPLORING PLANT EXTRACTS
FOR HOUSEHOLD ITEMS IS IMPERATIVE. GUMAMELA, WITH ITS VIBRANT FLOWERS, AND YLANG-YLANG, KNOWN FOR
AROMATIC BLOOMS, CONTAIN NATURAL COMPOUNDS THAT MAY OFFER SOFTENING PROPERTIES. AS TRADITIONAL FABRIC
CONDITIONERS OFTEN INCLUDE SYNTHETIC CHEMICALS, THIS RESEARCH SEEKS TO SHED LIGHT ON ECO-FRIENDLY
ALTERNATIVES, AIMING TO CONTRIBUTE TO ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY AND CONSUMER HEALTH.

SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY

THE STUDY EXPLORES GUMAMELA AND YLANG-YLANG EXTRACTS IN FABRIC CONDITIONER, AIMING FOR ECO-FRIENDLY
ALTERNATIVES TO SYNTHETIC CHEMICALS. SUCCESS COULD REDUCE ECOLOGICAL IMPACT, ALIGNING WITH
SUSTAINABILITY IN THE TEXTILE INDUSTRY. THE USE OF LOCAL BOTANICAL SOURCES ENHANCES PRODUCT QUALITY AND
COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT. BEYOND ENVIRONMENTAL BENEFITS, THE RESEARCH SIGNIFIES A MOVE TOWARDS SOCIALLY
RESPONSIBLE TEXTILE PRODUCTION. EMPHASIZING LOCAL RESOURCES REFLECTS A COMMITMENMT TO ECO-FRIENDLY
ALTERNATIVES. IN SUMMARY, THIS INVESTIGATION MARKS A SIGNIFICANT STEP TOWARD A MORE ENVIRONMENTALLY
CONSCIOUS AND SOCIALLY AWARE APPROACH IN THE TEXTILE SECTOR.

PROBLEM STATEMENT
1.SYNTHETIC CHEMICALS IN FABRIC CONDITIONERS POSE ENVIRONMENTAL RISKS, PROMPTING A NEED FOR SUSTAINABLE
ALTERNATIVES.

2. ENVIRONMENTAL POLLUTION AND POTENTIAL HEALTH EFFECTS RESULT FROM THE PREVALENT USE OF SYNTHETIC
COMPOUNDS.

3. THE TEXTILE INDUSTRY'S CURRENT PRACTICES CONTRIBUTE TO A GROWING ECOLOGICAL FOOTPRINT.

4. DEMAND FOR ECO-FRIENDLY PRODUCTS IN THE TEXTILE INDUSTRY HIGHLIGHTS A NEED FOR GREENER ALTERNATIVES.

5. THIS STUDY AIMS TO IDENTIFY AND ASSESS THE VIABILITY OF GUMAMELA AND YLANG-YLANG EXTRACTS AS ECO-
FRIENDLY COMPONENTS IN FABRIC CONDITIONERS.

GROUP 4
“An Investigation study on gumamela extract
and ylang-ylang extract as alternative
component in making fabric conditioner.”

OBJECTIVES
1. *Evaluate Color Quality:* Assess the color properties of fabric conditioner
formulations containing gumamela and ylang-ylang extracts, comparing
them to conventional synthetic formulations.
2. *Examine Absorption Characteristics:* Investigate the absorption
attributes of the fabric conditioner with gumamela and ylang-ylang extracts
to determine its effectiveness in providing fabric softening qualities.
3. *Analyze Stick Consistency:* Evaluate the stick consistency of the fabric
conditioner formulations, examining their texture and adherence properties,
and compare them with traditional counterparts.

4. *Assess Odor Profile:* Examine and compare the odor characteristics of

fabric conditioner formulations containing gumamela and ylang-ylang
extracts with those of conventional fabric conditioners.

5. *Validate Overall Quality:* Verify the overall quality of fabric conditioner

formulations with natural extracts, considering a comprehensive
assessment of color, absorption, stick consistency, and odor, to determine
their suitability as alternatives.
SLOPES AND LIMITATIONS
The study anticipates several slopes and limitations that may impact the research outcomes. Firstly,
variations in natural extracts, influenced by factors such as climate and soil conditions, could introduce
complexities in maintaining consistent formulations. Additionally, the efficacy of gumamela and ylang-
ylang extracts may differ across diverse fabric types, leading to potential disparities in performance.
External factors, like user preferences and perceptions, may influence the subjective evaluation of
qualities such as odor and stick consistency. The study's scope may be limited by the availability of these
botanical extracts, affecting the generalizability of findings. Despite efforts to control variables,
uncontrollable factors in the production process may introduce variability in the fabric conditioner
formulations. Furthermore, the study acknowledges the evolving nature of consumer expectations and
industry standards, which may influence the perceived quality of fabric conditioners.
DEFINITION OF TERMS

1. *Gumamela Extract:* Concentrated solution from the Hibiscus rosa-sinensis plant, used in fabric conditioner
for its natural properties.

2. *Ylang-Ylang Extract:* Aromatic oil from the Cananga odorata tree, added to fabric conditioner for its
botanical essence.

3. *Fabric Conditioner:* A laundry product enhancing fabric softness, typically applied during the rinse cycle.
4. *Color Quality:* Visual appearance and hue characteristics of the fabric conditioner.

DEFINITION OF TERMS
5. *Absorption Characteristics:* The ability of fabric conditioner to be absorbed by
fabrics, influencing its softening effectiveness.

6. *Stick Consistency:* Texture and adherence properties of the fabric conditioner,

affecting application and user experience.

7. *Odor Profile:* Distinctive scent of the fabric conditioner, influenced by gumamela

and ylang-ylang extracts.

8. *User Preferences:* Individual inclinations regarding fabric conditioner characteristics

like scent and texture.

9. *Formulation Variability:* Differences in fabric conditioner composition due to

variations in natural extract sources.

10. *Generalizability:* The extent to which study findings can be applied to a broader
context, considering limitations and variations.
