The solar system is made up of the sun, eight planets, and their respective moons, dwarf planets,

asteroids, meteoroids, and comets. The eight planets are Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter,
Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune. The inner solar system is made up of the sun, Mercury, Venus, Earth,
and Mars, while the outer solar system is made up of Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune. The four
outer planets are known as gas giants, while the four inner planets are rocky and terrestrial. Pluto
was once considered the ninth planet, but it is now classified as a dwarf planet. Each planet has its
own unique characteristics, such as size, composition, and atmosphere. For example, Jupiter is the
largest planet in the solar system, while Mercury is the smallest. Venus has a thick atmosphere that
traps heat, making it the hottest planet, while Mars has a thin atmosphere and is known as the Red
Planet due to its reddish appearance. The planets in the solar system revolve around the sun in their
respective orbits, and each planet rotates on its axis, causing day and night. The study of planets and
the solar system is an important field of study in astronomy and astrophysics.
