Ppt-periodic table

I am Dmitri Mendeleev!

I made the PERIODIC TABLE !

 What is the PERIODIC TABLE?

o Shows all known elements in the universe.

o Organizes the elements by chemical properties.

o All the elements have been classified according to

electron configuration in the periodic table.

 Key to the Periodic Table

 Elements of periodic table can be divided into 3 main categories:
1. METALS
2. NON-METALS
3. METALLOIDS

Region: Metals

Group1: Alkalai Metals Group 2: Alkaline Earth Metals Groups 3 – 12: Transition
Metals

Lanthanide Series: Actinides Series

Region: Metalloids
Region: Nonmetals

Group 17: Halogens Group 18: Noble Gases

Electronegative

The metals of an atom to a molecule to attract electrons distributed by itself is known as

electronegativity.
Electropositive

Electropositive can be defined as the tendency of an atom to donate electrons to form

positively charged cations.

BONDING FORCES AND ENERGIES

An understanding of many
of the physical properties of
materials is enhanced by a
knowledge of the interatomic
forces that bind the atoms
together. Perhaps the principles
of atomic bonding are best
illustrated by considering how
two isolated atoms interact as
they are brought close together
from an infinite separation.

 BONDING
Primary bonds
- involve sharing or donating electrons between atoms to form a more stable electron configuration.

 3 types of primary bonds

1. Ionic bonding.
An ionic bond is formed when valence electrons are transferred from one atom to the other to
complete the outer electron shell.
2. Covalent bonding.
A covalent bond is formed when the valence electrons from one atom are shared between two or
more particular atoms.
3. Metallic bonding.
A metallic bond is formed when the valence electrons are not associated with a particular atom or
ion but exist as a "cloud" of electrons around the ion centers.
