Green transformation of construction industry is an important part of the development

of a sustainable society. Green building and low-carbon construction have become
industry trends and norms. This edition of “InSpires ” highlights the direction of
sustainability for the construction industry, and the “PEAK” concept formulated by
CSHK for its sustainable development, aiming to achieve the national goal of CO2
emissions peak by 2030 and Hong Kong’s goal of carbon neutrality by 2050.
建造業綠色轉型是社會可持續發展的重要一環。綠色建築、低碳施工已成為業界趨勢。本

期《築跡》重點介紹建造業可持續發展方向與規範，以及中建香港制定的「P.E.A.K」可持續發

Hong Kong was hit by a once-in-a-century rainstorm recently, which alerts us once again to
address the extreme climate change issue urgently. For our homeland and the future of our
children, each of us should do our best to lead a low-carbon life in terms of food, clothing,
housing and transportation. All industries in Hong Kong should also be obliged to promote
industrial sustainability.
According to the World Green Building Council, buildings account for 39% of global carbon
emissions related to energy usage, with 28% attributed to the operational phase of completed
buildings and an additional 11% during construction due to material and machinery-related
emissions. Finding greener methods for construction and effective management to reduce
carbon emissions from buildings is a significant challenge, but an opportunity as well, for
environmental preservation.
一場百年一遇的黑雨，讓我們再一次警覺極端氣候變化問題，真的水浸眼眉！為

我們這個家園、為孩子的將來，我們每一個人都應該盡力從衣食住行實踐低碳生
活，而香港各行各業，亦應義不容辭推動企業自身的可持續發展。
根據世界綠色建築議會（World Green Building Council）報告，建築物佔全球能源相關

的碳排放為39%，當中28%是已落成建築物使用期能源相關的碳排放，另外11%是
建造期間因物料、機械燃料的碳排放。如何以更環保的方式建造及管理，有效減
低建築物的碳排放，是保護環境的一大挑戰與機遇。
“P.E.A.K” concept for sustainability

「P.E.A.K」可持續發展理念
To further promote sustainable development in Hong Kong, CSHK has introduced the ‘P.E.A.K’
concept in response to the national goal of achieving carbon peak by 2030. Guided by a
people-centric (People) philosophy, we care for our employees and workers and remain
committed to our community. We aim to create an environmentally friendly low-carbon
construction approach (Environment) and collaborate with academia and supply chain
partners (Alliance) to contribute to the development of key projects in Hong Kong (Key
Projects for Hong Kong), thereby working towards the goal of carbon neutrality by 2050.
為進一步推動香港可持續發展，中建香港推出了「P.E.A.K」理念，以響應國家實現2030年

前碳達峰目標，秉承以人為本（People）的理念，關懷員工和工友，心繫社區，打造環境
（Environment）友好的低碳施工方案，並與學術界及供應鏈夥伴協作（Alliance）
，為香港
發展建造更多重要項目（Key Projects for Hong Kong）

People are irreplaceable assets for both businesses and society.

is the key to achieving sustainability of a company. CSHK is

Environment

The increasingly frequent extreme weather events underscore the

urgency of addressing climate change. As the main contractor,
CSHK strives to promote low-carbon projects, set up pilot projects,
and introduce different low-carbon construction technologies
to minimise the impact of construction on the environment.
The company utilises innovative technologies, such as the self-
developed “C-SMART site integrated management platform”.
Through material management and environmental and energy
management templates, this platform efficiently manages the
supply and use of materials and resources. It helps reduce waste
and pollutants while also aiding in monitoring and managing on-site
energy usage to minimise energy wastage.
愈來愈頻繁的極端天氣突顯了延緩及應對氣候變化的迫切性。作
為總承建商，中建香港努力推動低碳工程，設定試點項目，引進
不同的低碳施工技術，盡量減少施工對環境的影響。公司採用創
新科技，例如應用自主研發的「C-SMART 工程管理數字平台」，透
過物料管理及環境與能耗管理模版，有效地管理材料和資源的供
應和使用，減少廢棄物和污染物的產生，同時有助監控和管理地
盤的能源使用情況，減少能源浪費。

The healthy development of cities and the construction industry

relies on the collaborative efforts of various stakeholders. It also
depends on the consensus built across the entire industry chain, as
well as the cooperation of government and society, to achieve goals
together. CSHK actively engages with various stakeholders through
communication, coordination, and learning. We seek collaborative
opportunities within the industry to promote sustainable development,
partner in research and development, and advocate for sustainable
building materials and construction technologies. Together, we aim to
create more livable and sustainable buildings.

With the changes in social structure and the rapid development of

science and technology, the construction industry is gradually moving
towards “smart buildings”. Technological innovation is a key driver
of development, and the widespread use of new technologies is
revolutionising the construction industry. CSHK continues to invest in
smart facilities and gradually digitalise its operations. The company has
built iconic green buildings using advanced construction technologies
such as BIM, MiC, sustainable low-carbon building materials, site
electrification, and renewable energy. Examples of these buildings
include Tseung Kwan O Desalination Plant, Chinese Medicine Hospital
and Government Chinese Medicine Testing Institute, and Organic
Resources Recovery Centre Phase 2 (O  PARK2).
隨著社會結構變化和科技急速發展，建築業逐漸走向「智慧建築」。技術創新是發展的關鍵動力，而新技術的

廣泛使用正使建造業發生徹底的變化。中建香港持續投資於智慧設施，把營運漸漸數碼化。公司廣泛應用先

Launching Clean Energy Plan to lead low-carbon transformation of the

construction industry
啟動「清潔能源計劃」引領建造業低碳轉型
To support the Country’s “Dual Carbon Targets” and the HKSAR Government’s “Hong Kong’s Climate
Action Plan 2050” carbon reduction strategy, CSHK hosted the “CSHK Clean Energy Plan Activation
cum Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) Signing Ceremony” on 9 October 2023, and made three
major carbon reduction commitments. Through the MoU signing with Sinopec (Hong Kong) Limited
(“Sinopec HK”) and BYD(H.K.) Co., Ltd. (“BYD”), CSHK will pioneer hydrogen energy generation
technology in the construction sector. The company has purchased more than 20 electric vehicles
as patrol vehicles.
為響應國家雙碳目標及香港特區政府《香港氣候行動藍圖2050》，中建香港於10月9日舉行「中建香

港清潔能源計劃」啟動禮暨合作夥伴備忘錄簽約儀式，並作出三大減碳承諾。同時，中建香港與
中石化（香港）有限公司（

In his speech, Secretary for Environment and Ecology

Mr Tse Chin-wan said that he was pleased to see the
efforts by CSHK and its partnering organizations Sinopec
HK and BYD to promote the development of green
transportation and to reduce the environmental impact
of construction works, which are in line with the HKSAR
Government’s “Hong Kong’s Climate Action Plan 2050”
and Hong Kong’s goal to achieve zero vehicle emissions
and carbon neutrality by 2025.
環境及生態局局長謝展寰致辭時表示，樂見
中建香港及其合作單位中石化、比亞迪等積
極響應《香港氣候行動藍圖2050》的政策方
向，參與推動綠色運輸的發展，致力減少工

Danny Hung, Chairman of CSHK said, “The construction
sector is a major stakeholder in our city’s development.
CSHK adopts a people-centric approach and attaches
great importance to the sustainability of the city.
By launching the “CSHK Clean Energy Plan” in
partnership with other industries, we have made three
carbon reduction commitments, demonstrating our
determination to promote the use of clean energy in
the industry and our efforts and vision in building a
sustainable, low-carbon and livable environment for
Hong Kong.”
中建香港董事長孔祥兆表示：「建造業是香港社會發展中重要的持份者，中建香港以人為本、重視
城市的可持續發展。我們聯同其他業界啟動『中建香港清潔能源計劃』，並作出三大減碳承諾，反映

3 Major carbon reduction commitments

the use of hydrogen energy generation in construction sites

including electricity, solar power and hydrogen power in day-to-day operations

CSHK will be implementing various energy saving measures, including the deployment of renewable energy
systems, and the installation of solar lighting and photovoltaic solar panels. In addition, all of the company’s projects
will fully implement measures documented in the Energy Saving Manual, use Grade 1 Energy Efficiency label
appliances and lighting equipment, and install smart electrical boxes to monitor electricity usage in real time.
中建香港還將在項目上推行一系列節能措施，包括使用可再生能源系統、安裝太陽能照明設備和光伏太陽能發
電板等。此外，公司所有項目將全面執行節約能源手冊中列明的措施，使用一級能源效益標籤的電器和照明設

were also invited to share their insights in the practical
application of Modular Integrated Construction (MiC),
C-SMART site integrated management platform, and
Building Integrated Photovoltaics (BIPV).

幕牆」品牌等代表，分享在組裝合成建築法（MiC）

There were a number of booths at the launch ceremony to showcase the

latest construction solutions, MiC, MiMEP, intelligent engineering management
platforms, and low-carbon building materials.

The energy transition, a trend that has repercussions around the world, is changing people’s personal behaviour
swiftly. Looking at the construction industry, the trend is imperative to accelerate the green and low-carbon
transformation. In response to the nation’s goal of having CO2 emissions peak before 2030, and achieving carbon
neutrality before 2050 in Hong Kong, the government takes proactive measures to support all sectors in Hong Kong
in increasing their adoption of clean energy, thereby contributing to the global effort to achieve carbon reduction
targets. Speaking with InSpires , Mr Tse Chin-wan, Secretary for Environment and Ecology, shared his views on clean
energy and Hong Kong’s construction industry.
能源轉型這個引起全球極大迴響的趨勢，正以迅雷不及掩耳之勢改變著人們衣食住行的面貌。縱觀

建造業發展計劃，加速綠色低碳轉型勢在必行。為了響應國家實現2030年前碳達峰、香港達致2050年
前碳中和，政府積極支持香港各界增加使用清潔能源，配合全球減碳。今期《築跡》人物專訪特別邀

Hello, Mr Tse, in the past summer vacation, Hong Kong experienced its “hottest July”
on record again. Extreme weather events are increasing and are of great public concern.
The Environmental Campaign Committee has launched a series of carbon reduction
campaigns recently, calling people to “Reverse Habits and Reduce Carbon Together” in
energy saving. What should we do to achieve the goal?
你好，謝局長，在剛過去暑假，香港又再刷新多項「七月最熱」紀錄。極端天氣問題可謂迫在眉

睫，跟每位市民息息相關。早前，環境運動委員會推出一系列減碳宣傳，還有一句口號「扭轉
習慣一齊減碳」
，究竟我們應該如何「轉」？
This means we need to change our habits, such as turning off lights when leaving room empty,
not setting the indoor air conditioning temperature too low, reducing waste and encouraging
recycling, riding public transportation, and even eating vegetarian food. All these, can help
carbon reduction. We simply need to change our daily habits, start with clothing, food,
accommodation, and transportation, to help reduce carbon emissions.
這代表需要扭轉我們的習慣，例如：離開房間要隨手關燈；室內冷氣溫度不要調得太冷；減

少廢物、推動回收；多乘公共交通工具；甚至飲食方面可多吃素食，這些都有助減碳。我們
應該從衣、食、住、行方面著手，改變小習慣，減少碳排放。
The general public needs to change their daily habits to help reduce carbon emissions.
What about businesses? Some years ago, the government launched the Building Energy
Efficiency Funding Schemes, in which many enterprise and property managements
replaced T5 fluorescent lamps, changed old electrical appliances and air conditioning
systems to a more energy efficient model. For new buildings, BEAM Plus assessment
were used to measure a building’s sustainability performance. How can enterprises,
especially the construction and manufacturing industries, go one step further to reduce
carbon emissions?
一般市民應該改變小習慣，從生活上減碳。那企業呢？早年政府推出「建築物能源效益資助計

劃」，許多企業、物管都更換 T5熒光燈管、添置有能源效益標籤的電器、空調設備；新建樓宇
又有「綠建環評」的推動。企業，特別是建造業、製造業，應如何多走一步，一起減碳？
I think the first step for the manufacturing sector to take is to reduce waste, which means to
reuse waste. Everyone can do it. Meanwhile, companies can train their employees to reduce
energy use in their work processes. They may also consider using advanced technology such
as electrification, reduce the use of fossil fuels, and even consider using biomass fuels and
“Hydrogen Energy”. All of these are carbon reduction measures that enterprises can look at.
我認為製造業第一步可以減廢，即廢物重用，人人都可以做到。另外，企業可訓練員工如何

在工序中減少能源使用，亦可利用高科技，例如透過電動化，減少使用化石燃料，甚至探討
可否採用生物質能燃料，以及「氫能」的使用，這些都是企業可以思考的減碳方向。

The government has set aside HK$200 million in the “New Energy Transport Fund” for
trials of double-decker buses and heavy construction vehicles powered by hydrogen
fuel cells. You also visited Foshan with the Legislative Council Panel on Environmental
Affairs this year to learn about the development of hydrogen fuel in the country. What
role does hydrogen play in China and Hong Kong’s journey towards carbon neutrality?

等。你今年亦和立法會環境事務委員會出訪佛山，了解國家氫燃料的發展。氫在國家及香港邁
向碳中和過程中擔當什麼角色？
In fact, hydrogen energy has been developed for many years. Hydrogen fuel turns into water
after burning without producing carbon dioxide, and emitting exhaust gases, making it a good
fuel choice for carbon neutrality. Hydrogen fuel can be used in automobiles, and also in buildings
through fuel cells. We can consider using it at construction sites. In the future, hydrogen energy
can be used more often to generate electrical power.
However, there are two issues with hydrogen fuel at present. Firstly, it is relatively expensive
due to uncommon use. Secondly, most hydrogen fuels currently used produce carbon
emission during manufacturing process, which we call “grey hydrogen” (hydrogen produced by
combustion of fossil fuels). Therefore, many companies and countries are studying how to mass-
produce “green hydrogen” (hydrogen produced by electrolysis of water using electricity from
renewable energy). The manufacturing process of green hydrogen is almost zero-carbon and
can achieve carbon neutrality. I believe that these issues will be solved in the future. Hydrogen
energy has great potential.
其實氫能源已經發展多年。氫燃料燃燒後變成水，不會產生二氧化碳，亦不會排放廢氣，對

於碳中和來說，是很好的燃料選擇。現在很多人都在探討，氫燃料不僅可用於汽車方面，更
可以透過燃料電池在大廈使用，地盤可以研究應用，將來很多需要燃料、需要發電的地方，
都可以考慮氫能。
不過，目前氫燃料最大困難有兩點，第一：價格較昂貴，因為用量不大。第二：現時所採用的

氫燃料，大部分在製造過程中會產生碳排放，我們稱之為「灰氫」（透過化石能源燃燒所產生
的氫氣）。因此很多企業、國家都在研究如何大規模生產「綠氫」
（透過可再生能源電力電解水
產生的氫氣），其製造過程幾乎零碳，可達至碳中和。我相信這些問題將來會得到解決，氫
能源很有潛力。

The general public is unfamiliar with hydrogen fuel and worried about its safety. How
do we deal with these concerns at public and corporate levels?
但是大眾對氫燃料的應用仍然感到陌生，又擔心它的安全問題，如何在公眾和企業層面，解決

這些憂慮呢？
All gaseous fuels such as natural gas, coal gas, liquefied petroleum gas are at risk of leakage or
explosion. Importantly, a set of stringent safety standards and regulations for gaseous fuels need
to be formulated in terms of their application, storage, and transportation. One characteristic
of hydrogen is that it is very light and will rise and diffuse quickly in air in case of leakage.
Therefore, hydrogen is no more dangerous than other gaseous fuels in reality. In Hong Kong,
we will conduct a series of trials to test the manufacture, storage, transportation, and use of
hydrogen energy. We will also formulate hydrogen fuel usage standards and technical guidelines
and make long-term planning. We hope that all sectors will work together and move towards
carbon neutrality.

As a part of the country, what contribution can Hong Kong make

in addressing climate change and carbon neutrality?
香港作為國家一員，在應對氣候變化及碳中和議題上，可以作出哪些貢

獻？
We can leverage Hong Kong’s advantages to help support the national

development goals. We can play a role in two aspects: firstly, Hong Kong
is an international city that brings together experience and technology
from different countries and regions, and therefore, we can act as a
knowledge exchange centre. Secondly, Hong Kong is an international
financial centre and we strive to develop green finance. For example,
green bonds issuance in Hong Kong recently accounts for one third of
international issuance of green bonds in Asia, ranking first in Asia. I
believe this can help us establish carbon trading markets, raise funds,
and achieve carbon neutrality. In addition, Hong Kong is an effective
gateway to China. If low-carbon products can obtain professional
certification in Hong Kong, it will help these products go into the world.
我們可以借助香港的優勢，配合和支援國家大局。有兩個方面我們可
以發揮：一方面，香港是國際城市，匯聚了不同國家和地區的經驗、技
術，我們可作為一個交流中心，將這些經驗技術進行交流。另一方面，
香港是一個國際金融中心，我們努力發展綠色金融，例如不久前香港
發行綠色債券，總額佔亞洲區此等債券市場份額超過三分之一，居亞
洲第一位。我相信這可推動碳交易市場的建立，有助融資，實踐碳中
和，邁向碳中和。另外，香港又可以發揮國家窗口的作用，如果低碳
產品可在香港獲得專業認證，對於這些產品邁向世界會很有幫助。

You led a team to visit the Greater Bay Area (GBA) recently. What have you gained to
help Hong Kong’s carbon reduction and environmental protection?
局長最近帶隊去大灣區交流，對香港的減碳、環保發展得到什麽收穫和啟示？
I was impressed by several things. Firstly, our country is very large, and many technologies such
as hydrogen energy, carbon capture, electric energy, and other new energies can be tested in
different cities and places. Once mature, a technology can be promoted on a large scale. Hong
Kong is a relatively small city, so we can only select relatively mature technologies to develop
and promote. The visit was an eye-opening event indeed. I believe that China will lead the world
not only in carbon reduction, but also in the establishment of a green economy, because our
country has the ability to test and do different R&D work on a large scale. Secondly, because
the city is small, Hong Kong mainly focuses on financial and commercial development, and is
relatively lacking in R&D and mass product promotion. If Hong Kong can be integrated into
the GBA and develop together, I believe that the GBA will be a world-leading green area. It
definitely has such potential.
幾件事我都印象深刻。第一，我們的國家很大，許多技術例如氫能源、碳捕獲、電動能源，

其他新能源等都可以在不同城市、不同地方，做不同的試驗，一旦技術成熟時，便可大規模
推廣。香港是比較小的城市，只能選擇一些比較成熟技術去推廣。因此在內地交流之後，
我覺得大開眼界。我相信，國家不單在減碳方面，在整個綠色經濟的建立方面將來會領先
世界，因為我們國家可以大規模去試驗不同的研究和發展。第二，由於城市較小，香港主要
集中於金融、商業發展，在科研、產品推廣方面比較不足，如果能夠融入大灣區，集大家的
長處一起發展，我相信大灣區可以發展成為世界領先的綠色大灣區，大灣區絕對有這樣的潛
力。

Digital robots are being used in the project to carry out indoor wall painting, wall
scraping, exterior wall painting, and internal transportation of materials. Digital robots
not only help overcome manpower shortage, but also reduce occupational safety and
health risks, and improve work efficiency.
青康路北公屋地盤使用數碼化機械人，進行室內油漆噴塗、牆面批灰、外牆油漆、
材料內運等材料內運工作。新引入的機械人不僅紓緩人手短缺問題，亦可減少職安
健風險，並提升施工效率。

The intensity of physical labour involved in the painting process
shall not be underestimated, and if occupational safety and health
measures are not taken, the risk of accidents will significantly
increase. Developed jointly by CSHK and SquareDog Robotics, the
indoor wall painting robot incorporates BIM technology, automatic
path planning, and indoor navigation technology to enable the remote
and flexible operation of multiple robots in completing automatic
painting. Even in a dimly lit environment, the painting of interior walls
and ceilings can be done accurately with stable quality. It only takes
15 to 20 minutes to complete the interior wall and ceiling painting of
a 2 or 3-person flat.

Wall scraping robot

Wall scraping is an important part of the wall painting
process. The scraping robot used in the project is built
by several sensors and equipped with autonomous
perception and obstacle avoidance technology to scrape
off the wall surface automatically. The robot can perform
processes such as rough sanding of cement on walls,
automatic plastering, fine sanding, and paint spraying, with
a maximum working height close to 6 metres. With the
addition of robots equipped with automatic vacuuming
technology, the on-site environment during construction
is also much cleaner, significantly improving the image
of the construction site from being smoky and polluted.

Exterior wall painting robot

Painting on the exterior walls of buildings involves high-altitude

work, which imposes the risks of falling from a height. With
the use of exterior wall painting robots, workers control the
robot at ground level for completion of the high-altitude wall
painting automatically. The robot can complete a 3.5-meter-
wide and 36-storey facade painting within 2.5-3 hours, and at
the same time, calculate the painting area in real time. During
the process, the gondola platform uses a wind-steady control
algorithm, allowing the equipment to remain stable with
minimal lateral swaying. This not only eliminates the risk for
workers performing tasks at heights but also enhance quality
due to control of painting workers.

The project is constructed at 12 locations

in Cheung Ching Estate. It covers almost all
types of civil engineering works, including
housing construction, bridge engineering, pile
foundation engineering, road engineering,
slope engineering, and large-scale excavation
and lateral support (ELS) works. The overall
management difficulty is equivalent to handling
five different projects simultaneously. The
project is built along the side of the hills,
with over half of the area consisting of slopes. In addition, the limited space at the construction site
makes it extremely challenging and risky. When constructing the footbridge, the project team uses
BIM technology to simulate all work processes in advance, and at the same time, key processes are
simulated off-site through model building methods to ensure the smooth run of actual construction
works, reducing work changes, achieving “Speed, Volume, and Efficiency”, and shortening the
construction time by about 3 months.

樁基、馬路、斜坡、大型土地挖掘及側向承托工程（ELS），整體管理難度相當於5個項目同時施工。
項目依山而建，超過一半的面積為斜坡，加上地盤位置空間十分狹窄，施工難度及風險極高。在
建造行人天橋時，工程團隊採用建築信息模擬（BIM）技術，模擬整個施工過程，同時通過實物模型
的建造解決關鍵節點的問題，減少建造過程中需要作出的變更，以達至「提速、提量、提效」，加

Ms Bernadette Linn, Secretary for Development of the HKSAR Government, visited Hailong Construction
Technology in Zhuhai with her team and toured its science and technology exhibition hall and factory, learning its
development and scientific research achievements of the last 30 years in the field of prefabricated construction.
She pointed out that MiC technology is one of the most advanced smart construction technologies at present,
through which buildings are prefabricated in a factory and followed by on-site installation. It is an effective way
of achieving “green building”. The HKSAR Government is proactively promoting the development and application
of MiC technology to cope with problems such as long construction period, aging working population, and high
construction costs.

trade Integrated MEP (MiMEP) in Hong Kong. She said that the wider use of MiMEP can help alleviating the shortage
of labour, shortening the time for installation of MEP equipment on sites, improving safety and construction quality,
reducing construction waste, and achieving high speed, high efficiency, high quantity, and high quality of construction.

District and Guangzhou Development Zone, indicating that CSHK has the qualification
to build in both places and is able to play a role in the development of the country.

Winning medals at the 48th Geneva International Inventions Exhibition

At the exhibition, CSHK won two bronze medals, one for the company’s self-
developed C-SMART site integrated management platform and the other for
C-S autonomous multi-functional construction site service robot developed in
cooperation with the Hong Kong Productivity Council.

OPARK2 has won an ICE Annual Award

OPARK2榮獲英國土木工程師學會年獎
The Organic Resources Recovery Centre Phase 2 (OPARK2), which
is constructed by CSHK, has received the 2023 Brunel Award from
the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) in the United Kingdom. The
Brunel Award recognises civil engineering and infrastructure projects
for their accomplishments in carbon reduction. Dr Samuel Chui,
Director of Environmental Protection, said that O  PARK2 offers
valuable experience and serves as a model for Hong Kong’s low-
carbon building projects.

Following the devastating impact of Super Typhoon Saola and an unexpected Black
Rainstorm in Hong Kong, CSHK displayed swift and
proactive responsiveness by actively participating
in rescue and cleanup operations. This involved the
removal of fallen trees and street debris that had
cluttered the cityscape. The extensive flooding in
Hong Kong severely disrupted public transportation
and heightened the risk of landslides. CSHK’s
volunteer teams stepped up to assist those in
need, addressing flooding incidents in various areas,
including Wong Tai Sin, Nam Long Shan Road, and
Hennessy Road in Wan Chai. These efforts garnered
recognition and support from government authorities
and district representatives, including district officers
and members of the Legislative Council.
無論在超強颱風「蘇拉」襲港，抑或黑色暴雨無

CSHK’s volunteer team enthusiastically answers the company’s call for “Creating a Happy Society”
and actively engages with the community through a volunteer service initiative known as “Thousands
of Homes for Maintenance.” Furthermore, a dedicated group of employees has formed a “House
Maintenance” volunteer team to offer assistance to those in need. Their services encompass a range
of vital tasks, including anti-slip handrail installation, water pipe inspections, air insulation cleaning,
TV line inspection, pest control, and ceiling repairs. While these repairs may appear simple, they
present significant challenges and safety concerns for those in need, significantly impacting their
quality of life. Several volunteers have graciously shared their experiences with us.
公司義工隊響應公司「為社會經營幸福」的號召，積極走進社區，服務社群。透過推

展千戶家居修繕計劃，公司一班熱心員工組成「居有所葺」隊伍，為基層困難家庭、
獨居長者等有需要人士提供修繕服務，如防滑扶手安裝，水喉檢查、隔氣清潔、電
視線路檢查、滅蟲及天花修補等。這些看似簡單的維修工作，對於受助者來說，卻

“I remember that there was a fire ripped through a cluster of wooden stilt houses
in Tai O a few years ago, and the house of an old lady living alone was affected.
She was very worried. Our volunteer team immediately carried maintenance
materials from the city to Tai O and completed the repair work. The old lady was
moved, and before we left, she held the hands of each team member and thanked
them one by one. The scene was very touching, which has also strengthened my
determination to help others. I joined the volunteer team with the primary goal
of helping others. In addition, many of my fellow team members and I hail from
humble backgrounds, and we’ve always had a compassionate outlook, aspiring to
serve the community with professionalism and compassion.”

“Home repair work helps improve the quality of life for the
elderly. For example, installation of handrails for elderly people
with limited mobility who live alone not only ensures their
safety at home but also adds to the convenience of their daily
lives. While engaging volunteer work, I feel that in addition
to using our skills to help those in need, we can also take
an extra step, such as fostering communication with them.
Consequently, when I encounter elderly individuals who live
alone or have limited mobility, I make an effort to connect with
them while performing repair or maintenance tasks. This not
only demonstrates our care for them but also injects vibrancy
into their lives, making our volunteer work more meaningful.”

“I have a deep passion for volunteer work. My motto is ‘Giving is more
blessed than receiving’, which encourages me always be ready to lend a
helping hand. Home repair work may appear simple, but it solves major
difficulties for people in need, improving home safety and quality of life. One
particular experience touched me profoundly — the simple act of changing a
light bulb for an elderly lady who lived alone. The bulb had been burnt out for
an extended period, and she was unable to replace it herself. I was overjoyed
to assist her, promptly installing a new bulb that not only illuminated her
surroundings but also instilled a sense of safety and security in her home. Site Foreman

through the art of rice dumpling-making. Under the guidance
of master chefs, participants joyfully crafted their “First Rice
Dumplings in Life” and thoughtfully distributed them to fellow
employees, sharing a sense of camaraderie and festive spirit.

and rejuvenating experience.
