ANS 1: The birds that are mentioned in the poem are: Swallows, chaffinchs,

whitethroats and thrushes. The name of the bird “whitethroat” describes and
gives us an idea that the bird must have a white patch on its throat.
ANS 2: Pear-tree and jasmine tree. The special thing about the pear-tree is that it
blossoms beautifully and scatters dewdrops leaning over the hedge. The jasmine
tree has a fragrant, aromatic smell which the author loves to enjoy sitting on the
steps of his grandfather’s orchard.
ANS 3: He compares the English flowers with the “gaudy melon flower”. He
prefers the buttercups because they are brighter and have a sweeter smell.
ANS 4: Both poets miss their homeland’s orchards, the greenery, the creatures,
and the nature of their cherished lands.
ANS 5 : When Robert Browning will return back he will see the area being
developed but when Jalal al Jayyousi returns he finds the area being occupied.
