Question 1: Why had the Paper tigers been so quick to report Mr. Ali for keeping drugs?
Answer: The Paper tigers had been quick to report Mr. Ali because, firstly, he was an outsider and even
though they worked for him and knew him, they didn’t fully trust him and also because he had
mentioned the “drugs” and told them that he would be in serious trouble if someone finds out about it.
Question 2: How does Mr. Ali try to comfort and reassure Gareth?
Answer: He comforts him and says that he was also treated the same way, with suspicion and
indifference, just because he did not belong to the same place and he was different, so he tells him that
he needs to be patient and wait for things to work out and after some time the other Paper tigers will
get used to him.
Question 3: What does the scene between Kawaski Joe and Gareth illustrate?
Answer: The scene between Joe and Gareth illustrates that they are getting along with each other and as
Joe is getting to know Gareth, he finds that he is not so bad after all.
Question 4: What do Mr. Ali’s word which concludes the playscript tell you about him and the situation?
Answer: It tells you that Mr. Ali is feeling empathy for Gareth because he had gone through the same
time and difficulty so he knows how hard it must be for Gareth.
Question 4: What are some of the ideas or issues which this playscript has made you think about?
Answer: It has shown that how hard life becomes when you are not where you belong and not with the
people who are the same as you. It is hard to be a foreigner and get through life with people who don’t
trust you and always look at you with an eye of suspicion. But, some people, after they get to know you,
might come around and help you fit in.
