Exploring/Emerging (E) - a level of practice in which the teacher leader relies on ongoing assistance
from more experienced colleagues for support, guidance, and survival. The teacher leader is moving
toward becoming more self-directed and independent in her/his practice. ​

Applying (A) - a level of practice in which the teacher leader is able to provide independent
leadership and easily applies what s/he has learned about leadership.

Integrating/Innovating (I) - a level of development in which the teacher leader is fully skilled and
confident. The Integrating/Innovating teacher leader contributing to the broader educational
community through staff development, research, or publication in professional journals. ​

I participate in our weekly PLCs with my SPED I would like to improve my knowledge of different

created a one-pager for how we were going to prepare

our 11 grade SPED students for the SBAC. This included
using our individual ideas to come up with a united goal
for our juniors. We created a plan for our SAI math,
english, and science classes, a plan for our Collab
english and math classes, and a plan for our SPED kids
that only have pull out services.

Domain 2: Accesses and Uses Research to Improve Practice and Student Learning E A I
a. Assists colleagues in accessing and using research in order to select appropriate x

I use formative assessments on a regular basis to assess


whether my students are learning the skills intended by
my lessons. When needed, I make adjustments to my
lesson plans and units based on the findings of the
formative assessments.

I regularly use self-reflection. This helps me reflect on


what went well in my lessons and what improvements
need to be made. When I find an area of opportunity, I
collaborate with my colleagues to see how they are
teaching the concepts and brainstorm what works well
for them and what changes I can try to make. I also
share what works well for me on a regular basis.

Three Examples of Domain 3 Experiences Areas of Interest in Growth
Over the past 2 years, I have worked closely with the I would like to feel more comfortable providing

topics that can be covered that would benefit out
school/district as a whole and recommend different
team building activities that I feel others would enjoy.

I am always on the lookout for different types of


technology I have heard were successful in other
schools/districts. I noticed that the general education
English classes were using a number of online platforms
(no Red Ink/Membeam, Albert IO) to improve their
English skills but that these weren’t being utilized in
SPED. .I worked closely with our SLP to determine how
these technologies could be used and to bring a new
online platform, Lexia, to our Remedial English classes.

We hold collaboration events 2 times a year where


general education teachers are invited to collaborate
with the SPED teachers on how to best teach students
with an IEP. We collaborate on what works best for our
students and brainstorm troubles the general education
teachers are experiencing.

Last year, myself and the other teacher that teaches the
remedial english teacher were able to secure additional
funds from our district. These funds allowed us to buy
new materials, including high interest reading materials
and adapted texts for our remedial English classes.

Summary of Strengths and Areas of Possible Growth


I excel in areas that requires me to collaborate with my colleagues. I am comfortable working with others to help
improve the classroom for our students. This includes being an active participant, listening to others, and being
open to constructive feedback for the betterment of our students. Another strength I have is communicating with
and working with families to ensure their students’ needs are being met. Often times, this requires me to be an
advocate for both the student and the family.

Areas of growth I have identified is being more in touch with the diverse cultural and ethnic needs of our
communities. I would also like to be more comfortable with seeking out, understanding, and incorporating new
research into my classroom practices.
