Research Tittle: Investigating the Struggles of Civil Engineering Students in Building

the Future.

1. Can you describe a specific academic challenge you have encountered during
your studies as a civil engineering student?

Back then, as an irregular civil engineering student, I encountered a

significant challenge with the scheduling of our subjects. It often meant
attending classes during the late afternoon or early evening, typically from
5:30 to 6:00 or even as late as 7:00. This posed a considerable hurdle as our
brains were already fatigued from the day's activities. Navigating complex
engineering concepts and coursework during these late hours proved to be
demanding, requiring heightened concentration and mental agility. Despite the
difficulty, I persevered and learned valuable time management skills to cope
with these unconventional schedules, demonstrating my commitment to
overcoming obstacles in pursuit of academic success.

2. How do you believe this academic challenge has impacted your overall well-
being including your mental physical and emotional health?

The peculiar and often inconvenient schedules I faced as an irregular civil

engineering student posed a significant challenge to my academic pursuits.
The necessity of attending classes late into the evening resulted in delayed
journeys home, leaving me with insufficient time for focused study and
academic preparation. The struggle to balance the demands of coursework
with the constraints of these awkward schedules was palpable. Finding a
suitable and quiet environment for studying after arriving home late became
an ongoing challenge, affecting my ability to absorb and internalize the
complex engineering concepts. Despite these obstacles, I remained resilient,
continually seeking effective time management strategies and adapting my
study routine to ensure that I maximized the limited time available. This
experience not only strengthened my commitment to academic excellence but
also honed my ability to thrive in challenging circumstances.
3. Have you faced any personal challenges (e.g financial, family related, time
management) while pursuing your course? Please elaborate.

Personal challenges I have faced are mostly due to health, because I have a
track record of having long days being sick enough to not being able to go to
the university. Resulting in me having to struggle catching up to the lessons.

4. How do these personal challenges influence your academic performance and

your stability to cope with the demand of the program?
programa?)

They definitely made me think about my health and gave me determination to

better my self in this aspect so that that situation never happens again.

5. Can you recall a time when you felt overwhelmed or stressed as a Civil
Engineering student? What factors contributed to this feeling, and how did you
manage it?
pinamahalaan?)

Yes, I recall It like it was yesterday because it was yesterday, I forgot where I
have placed my homework bringing me into panic as the deadline for this
homework was that day and it dreaded me that if I did not find my homework I
would do it all over again, but I found it fixing the problem completely.
6. In your opinion what are the key factors contribute to your mental, physical,
and emotional stability as a civil engineering student?
pressure at stress.

The key is to know how to properly manage the time between academic,
social, and personal time. Knowing these knowledge you can balance things
out much better and avoid being overwhelmed by them.

7. How do you prioritize self-care and well-being amidst the demands of your
academic workload and other commitments?

Self-care in this field is just knowing when to stop and rest when you are tired
from studying too much and start again when you are ready.

8. Do you feel adequately supported by your academic institution in terms of

mental health resources and support systems? Why or why not?
Bakit? Bakit
hindi?)

The Catanduanes State University offers support to mental health, giving a

designated building for student counseling and having professors adapt to the
students situation.

9. Have you experience any barriers when seeking help for mental issues as a
Civil Engineering student?
inhinyerong sibil?)

no

10. Can you share some strategies or coping mechanisms you utilize to maintain
your mental, physical, and emotional well-being while pursuing your Civil
Engineering degree?

Having friends and family members to be with, talk to, and support you is
definitely a good way to cope. Or just play games.

11. How do you think the challenges you face as a Civil Engineering student may
impact your future career in the field?
inhinyerong sibil?)

Encountering these kinds of challenges is but a preparation to the life outside

the confinement of student life, when its time to spread out wings out into the
unknown world these experiences will keep us steady and strong minded to
soar through the sky without fear and regret. Life's challenges forge resilience,
fostering growth, strength, and wisdom, essential elements for personal
evolution.

12. What changes or improvements do you think could be made to better support
your mental, physical, and emotional stability as a Civil Engineering student?
kalusugan bilang isang studyante?

Change, though often hailed as an inevitable and necessary force, is a

complex and intricate phenomenon that weaves its way through the fabric of
our lives. It is not a mere shift in circumstances; rather, it encompasses a
myriad of interconnected threads, each influencing the other in a delicate
dance of transformation.

One facet of this complexity lies in the unpredictability that change brings. The
seemingly straightforward act of altering one aspect of our lives can set off a
cascade of unforeseen consequences, akin to the ripple effect in a vast pond.
It's as if change has a mind of its own, orchestrating a symphony of
adjustments that extend far beyond the initial alteration.

Moreover, the resistance to change, deeply rooted in human nature, adds

another layer of intricacy. The familiar, even if imperfect, often holds a
comforting allure, and the prospect of stepping into the unknown can be
daunting. It requires not only a mental shift but a recalibration of emotions and
ingrained habits, making change a delicate process that demands patience
and resilience.

Furthermore, the societal and cultural dimensions of change contribute to its

complexity. Different individuals, communities, and societies grapple with
change in unique ways, influenced by historical, geographical, and socio-
economic factors. What may be a positive transformation for one may be
perceived as a threat by another, creating a dynamic interplay of perspectives
that adds layers of convolution to the concept of change.

In essence, change is not a linear path but a convoluted journey through a

maze of uncertainties and adaptations. Its complexity lies not just in the
alteration of circumstances but in the intricate interplay of psychology, society,
and the unpredictable nature of life. Navigating this intricate tapestry of
change requires a nuanced understanding and an appreciation for the
intricate dance of forces that shape our evolving reality.
