(2) Consultation hours for TACs

Good day.

As the new semester for the AY 23-24 is about to open on September 11, there are important
matters that we need to comply and accomplish:

1. Permit to Teach

Hired lecturers with employment outside PLSP must submit their Permit to Teach duly
signed by their current employer to the Administrative Division, copy furnished is the Office of
the Dean; likewise, PLSP regular teaching personnel who wishes to teach in other school must
also secure the same document from the Administrative Division.

2. Consultation Hours

a. With approval of the University President, we shall observe the following consultation hours
for our faculty with teaching assignments:

 18 units and above – 4 hours/week


 13 to 17 hours – 3 hours/week
 9 to 12 hours – 2 hours/week
 8 hours and below – 1 hour/week

b. Please note that the consultation hours must be made accessible to students during the free
period of the instructor as part of his/her normal function with no added remuneration.

c. It should be taken as an opportunity for the instructor to set a special meeting with any
student who seems to lag behind, in terms of attendance to class, behavior, and performance in

class for the purpose of helping him/her cope with or improve. Likewise, an opportunity for any
student who may wish to consult the instructor for his/her academic concern.

d. The time and day must be specified in the TAC (ex. 5-6 PM, M to Th), and must be announced
to students during the college and class orientation.

e. Any student consultation must be properly logged by the instructor and form part of his/her
accomplishment report (AR).

f. The dean is advised to adopt common log book of the faculty solely for the purpose of
documenting consultation hours (applicable to either virtual or onsite settings). The data must
be held CONFIDENTIAL with access limited among the following: Student, Instructor, Program
Chair, Dean, and any highly-relevant office/person for referral of cases. It must bear the
following information/data:

 Consultation date, time and day


 Name of student, program and section
 Course and class schedule
 Specific academic concern:
 Recommendation/ Countermeasure:
 Date of follow-up (s) and remarks
 Student signature and instructor’s signature

3. INSET

Please inform your respective faculty about the 3-day In-service Training (INSET) on
September 6 to 8, 8 to 5 PM. There are two venues: 1st and 2nd Day at the SPC Convention and
Multi-Purpose Center; 3rd day, PLSP Sports Pavilion. It is a MUST for ALL the teaching personnel
to attend, as part of preparing them for the new semester. Regular faculty are to wear the
employee official uniform beginning September 6.
