Act 1

Exposition
Maria “Mary” Alonzo was in the middle of a gallery where one of her paintings was being presented. She
gets a call in the middle with her agent telling her that there’s a private competition from the museum
she’s been dreaming to house one of her paintings. After that call, she receives another from her mother
asking her to be a temporary helper for her estranged grandmother. Dito mame-meet niya yung isa ‘rin na
hinahangaan niyang tao in the art community because of his enormous art collection, Giovanni ‘Gio’
Hugo Selorio, Pakita dito na love team sila so insert one kilig moment here o linyahan. It’ll also be hinted
here that Gio’s family operates on the publishing community because of his grandfather started it.

Inciting Incident
Unbeknownst to her agent, Mary is struggling with inspiration. Though she tried to look for one, nothing
she created or painted was good for her. At first, she struggled in accepting being her grandmother’s
helper because she needed to focus in creating an art piece but this was her grandmother. Even if she’s not
close with her, she still remembered this old woman taking care of her and giving her candies. Full of
hesitation, Mary agrees..

Plot Point #1
Mary arrives in their ancestral house. It’s where apparently her mother grew up but she never heard of this
place as she tells her friend on the phone. She meets her grandmother, Zeny, who is very stubborn and
very sick. Zeny refuses Mary’s attempt to help her complete laborious household chores. It is only then
when Zeny suffers a minor injury from her leg, and Mary offers to massage it when they start to bond.
Zeny remembers something a soldier once said to her and she said to Mary but when Mary asked about it
Zeny refused to elaborate.

Act 2

Rising Action
Mary couldn’t sleep at the ancestral house. It was raining that night, and she could hear everything unlike
in the comfort of her condo where the sound of rain is quite muted. She also couldn’t surf the internet
because her data was fluctuating. So she went into her grandmother’s room to check if she needed
anything only to see her asleep. In her grandmother’s room there were a lot of pictures in a large
bookshelf. She browsed the photos of her mom’s in her younger years, and a few photos of her
grandmother and her late husband here and there. It wasn’t until she stopped by the book shelf and
thought to herself she’ll borrow the book and amuse herself for a while. Not knowing it was her
grandmother’s diary.

Midpoint
Right as she starts reading, the first line of the book is the quote Zeny told her. As she reads her
grandmother’s diary, she then feels like she was transported into the year it was written. It was about
Zeny’s childhood in an orphanage. In this specific entry, Zeny was learning from a soldier about how “it’s
the memories that preserve the battle scars.” or sumn like that. As Mary reads more, she sees the small
playground that serves as Zeny’s temporary heaven, and she saw the sky, though dark and looming, filled
with smoke, in the eyes of Zeny, it was nothing but just plain sky (this scene will later on inspire her to
paint this scene).

On another entry, Mary is transported into another memory of Zeny. It was when she started learning how
to write, the few kids in the orphanage were taught by a few recuperating soldiers who taught them how
to read and write. Zeny was having a hard time writing her name so a boy the same age taught her how to
write her name, and that’s when they became friends. (Mary is later on inspired by this again, she paints a
blackboard with a teacher whose hands were bloody(?)).

Mary reads another kilig moment with Hugo Selorio. It was when Hugo asked if pwede daw ba siyang
manligaw kay Zeny, and it inspires her to paint that specific scenery. The painting is titled, “Ang
Pagsuyo.”

Plot Point #2
Few days came to pass,
Another progress is that she also started to bond with Zeny who allowed her to read more of her diary but
she never really asked her about it. They started bonding by enjoying coffee in the morning after
sweeping the front yard of their house with fallen leaves. While at night, Mary learns more about the man
that Zeny wrote about in her diary. It was stated that this man was her first love, and he’d bring her
flowers, write her notes, and give her food (biscuits maybe?).

On another diary entry, Mary learns that Zeny officially started dating Hugo. Mary was finishing the art
piece she titled “Ang Pagsuyo” that was inspired by Zeny and Hugo’s courting stages. After a few hours
passed, she decided to take a break and went into social media. She posted a snapshot of her current WIP
and it got the attention of Gio whom later sent her food because he got worried when she told him na
hindi pa siya kumakain. Mary saw the note G.H.S and asked him if this was his but she pried what did
G.H.S mean and it meant “Giovanni Hugo Selorio.”

Zeny also helps her by giving critiques on her art works. As their relationship starts to develop, Zeny
suffers a heart attack (?) or something that sent her to the ICU. Mary was profoundly troubled because she
only started getting to know her grandmother and she’s already being taken away or at least that’s how
she felt. Her mother sees her weeping and tells her to get it together. Mary and her mother had a spat as to
why she never knew her grandmother —- PADAGDAGAN PO HAHA WALA AKO MAISIP

Act #3

Pre-Climax
Though Zeny’s vitals are stable, she was still unconscious. When her mother calls to ask her what she
needed, Mary tells her to grab the few diaries she still hasn’t read. Mary needed to read them because at
least in there, Zeny was alive and well. She was strong in the diary and not sick. In the entry she reads as
she waits for Zeny to wake up, it’s about Zeny starting school (? maybe after the war) and

Gio: Oh paano Mary, pwede bang makuha ko yung number mo?

Mary: Ay, sir!

you regarding the updates of your masterpiece. Saka
ang kulit mo rin eh noh? Call me Gio nalang.

Mary: Ah okay po, Gio. Pahiram ng cellphone po para mailagay

ko po yung number ko.

(As Mary inputs her number to Gio’s phone her phone will ring)

Mary: Gio teka lang if you’ll excuse me someone is calling

me lang.

Gio: Ah sure, I’ll take a look around nalang muna.

Bakit kaya tumatawag ‘to?

Hello, ma? Bakit po?

Cynthia: Hello, anak!

Lola Zeny mo, namatayan daw kasi sila kaya kailangan

Please?
Can you do it for me nalang? Asahan kita ha sabihin ko
ikaw na anak, thank you! I love you!

(The phone call will end leaving Mary with no choice)

akong magagawa. Leah! Ikaw na muna ang bahala dito may
aasikasuhin lang ako sa probinsya namin!

Setting: Bahay ni Lola Zeny, probinsya vibes.

(Mary will see Lola Zeny sweeping the floor but it is visible
that she is sick)

Mary: Magandang hapon po, Lola! Oh! Bakit ka nagwawalis lola

nako ako na po jan.

Zeny: Apo!

(Lola Zeny will continue sweeping but will sprain her ankle)

Zeny: Ay!

Mary: Lola! Anong nangyari? Sabi ko naman po kasi ako na

diyan eh.

ginagawa mo nalang eh magpahinga, magpinta, o kaya
Magsulat-sulat yun! Ganon! Hindi yung gumagawa ka pa
ng mga gawaing bahay.

Zeny: Magsulat?

biyahe.

Mary: Pahinga po as in tulog? Eh lola halos magdidilim

palang po ah bakit parang ang aga?

Zeny: Ganyan talaga dito sa probinsya natin, Apo. Maagang

Basta lola
kapag sumakit yung paa mo ulit o may kailangan ka
sabihin mo lang ah.

Zeny: oh sige sige salamat apo ha sige na magpahinga na

tayo.

(Mary and Lola Zeny proceeds to sleep but Mary is finding it

difficult to sleep as it is raining too hard)

Mary: Ano ba yan!

Ano
kayang puwedeng gawin? Uy infairness ha ang daming
libro dito kay lola… what if magbasa nalang kaya ako
ng isa dito baka sakaling antukin ako.

(Thunders will be heard which will make Mary drop her

grandmother’s diary and waking her up)

Zeny: Eh ano ba yang kinukuha mo diyan? Akin na gusto mo

bang basahan nalang kita ng kwento katulad ng ginagawa
ko sa mama mo?

(Mary nods in approval and brings the diary to her)

Oh!

Setting: Bahay ampunan, taong 1950s

Characters: Young Zeny

Hugo Selorio

Hugo: Zeny!
alaala.
