METHOD STATEMENT FOR

SURVEYING WORKS

Method Statement - Surveying Works


1.0 OBJECTIVE OF PROCEDURE
This work method statement covers the survey works for Batangas Combined Cycle Power Plant.

This work method statement provides information concerning method of application to ensure compliance with
technical specification.

2.0 DESCRIPTION
To describe the method on how the surveying works are carried out with approval from AFC drawings.

3.0 MATERIALS
Surveying Instruments:
1. Total Station
2. Theodolite
3. Auto/Dumpy Level
4. Tripod
5. Level Staff
6. Prisms
7. Plump bob
8. Measuring Tape
9. Stakes (wooden)

4.0 WORK METHODOLOGY


4.1 GENERAL
4.1.1 Ensure that all IFC drawings, approved procedures and other necessary documents (e.g.
benchmark, plant datum, and UTM reference) have been issued to personnel in-charge of the work.
4.1.2 Advise key personnel for any changes (e.g. coordinates, elevation and dimension) on the IFC
drawings.
4.1.3 Ensure correct IFC Drawings and necessary documents are available to all personnel associated
with surveying works.
4.1.4 Confirm procedures are approved and available to the relevant personnel.
4.1.5 Secure work permit (when required).
4.1.6 When required, erect barriers / tapes, caution boards, flashing lights to traffic areas and other
necessary warning signs.
4.1.7 Check, inspect, survey, layout and establish markings at the proposed areas for site preparation.
Surveying works shall be carried out in accordance with PRJ-4-301, Surveying.
4.1.8 For remote construction sites, clearly identify using stakes / tapes, vehicular access routes and
construction areas (right of way).

4.2 SURVEYING WORKS


4.2.1 Review all IFC drawings relevant to the work, identify all surveying coordinates, true Northing and
reference elevation.
4.2.2 Secure survey instrument.
4.2.3 Ensure that all survey instruments to be used are properly calibrated with valid certification and
stickers.
4.2.4 Set and level instrument prior to conducting survey.
4.2.5 Locate and check survey control points as designated by the customer's representative.

4.2.6 Set and established finish elevations and lines shall be in accordance with project IFC drawings.
4.2..7 Preserve all established data and monuments, and if displaced or lost, immediately replace to the
approval of the Customer's representative. All survey data shall be recorded on "Survey Report" and
attachments produced as required.
4.2.8 All structures shall be laid true to lines and levels in accordance with the IFC drawings. All corners
of elevated structure shall be straight and plumb.
4.2.9 All structures shall be set out in accordance with the dimensions as shown on the IFC drawings.
Any readings outside of the Customer specified tolerances shall be brought to the attention of the engineering
and QC Department for resolution.
4.2.10 Furnish survey report and advise key personnel of any problems encountered during execution of
work and submit report to QC Supervisor for review/approval.
4.2.11 Ensure that all work has been inspected and all elevations / dimensional layouts conform to the
project specifications and IFC drawings. Inspection shall be in accordance with the Project QCIP.
4.2.12 When trenching or excavating areas where land drains are present, locations, direction, size and
depth of drains shall be noted on drawings for use when reinstating site construction area.
4.2.13 When vegetation is present in the area, perform rough grading by removing all vegetation.
Remove grass and roots to a minimum depth of 150 mm or as required. Scarify surfaces to remove all unsuitable
materials and dispose in accordance with PRJ-4-304. Top soil shall be segregated for reinstatement following
completion of the work.
4.2.14 Do not cut or excavate below required level of the sub-grade, except where unsuitable materials
are removed as directed by the Customer's representative.
4.2.15 Replace with approved material and compact thoroughly below the required level of the sub-
grade. Backfilling shall be carried out in accordance with PRJ-4-308.
4.2.16 Prior to excavation of foundations and underground utilities check the locations against IFC
drawings for the required elevations, grade lines and slope. Ensure that capping is installed as per Customer's
specifications.
4.2.17 When required, perform inspection and testing in accordance with QCIP.

5.0 SAFETY & ENVIRONMENTAL PROGRAMME

5.1 Safety
All survey team shall provide with PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) and shall be worn every time they are
entering the site.
Safety induction to be conducted to all that involved to this activity and safety tool box meeting shall be
conducted every day to remind them about concerning the safety.
Safety Manager / Safety Supervisor shall ensure that the activity shall carry out in a safe manager.
All survey team shall fully support and actively participate in all safety related activities and comply with all
practicable safety measures.
All survey team shall be advised to report any accident or injury to supervisor and proper treatment to be
obtained.
Rubber glove, mask and safety glasses should always be worn during works in progress.
The site shall be kept clear of unnecessary obstruction.
First aid kit boxes will be provided at site office.

5.2 Environmental

All survey team shall educate on good environmental management practices and well-disciplined to
environment.
The garbage bin shall be provided at the working area and Supervisor shall ensure its must be collected regularly
and disposed-off at the approved dumpsite.
Safety team shall ensure that no open burning of construction or domestic wastes is practiced.
All workers shall ensure that all tools and equipment machinery are in good condition to avoid any oil leakage
that could harm to environment.
