Rules for Harmony Cup 2024

General Rules

1. Knockout format in all rounds.

2. 9 members in each team. A minimum of 2 girls in the playing 9 is compulsory.

3. Substitutions - only 3 substitutions are allowed in all through the 4 days with the
limitation of any individual registering maximum in two teams. So, you can have a squad
of 9 main players + 3 substitute players (need not be named during registration).

4. All funds collected will be used to buy cycles for school-going kids to bridge the gap
between them and education. Hence the tagline of Harmony Cup 2024 is “Creating an
Innings of Impact”. The two best teams’ names with the tournament’s purpose will
receive a special award.

5. If the name of the team is a duplicate, the latter team will be asked to change the same.

6. A person can register himself/herself in a maximum of 2 teams only. Any clashes among
such teams during the scheduling of the tournament will be managed by the common
players themselves. He/ She can play only from one of the sides during such a clash.

7. Committees without the requisite number of males/females will be allowed to include


non-committee players of their choice.

8. Not more than 2 members of the IIML cricket team probable (PGP1 cricket team /
PGP2 cricket team) shall be part of a single team (Applicable for club/committee/AIG
team as well). Please refer to the list of players attached (if any discrepancy please
reach out to Team Bhavishya)

9. If a team does not show up in time, a penalty or walkover may be given at the discretion of
the umpire.

10. The umpire’s / Bhavishya member’s decision will be final and binding.

Rules and Regulations

1. 7 overs per innings till the Quarter Finals.

2. Semi-finals and Finals shall be of 8 overs each.

3. Each bowler can bowl a maximum of two overs. Minimum of 2 overs to be bowled by
female players in all the matches.

4. Any player who is batting can be substituted after playing a minimum of 4 balls in
his/her innings (Example: Person X can be substituted only after playing 4 balls
unless or until he is injured – the umpire’s decision is binding)

5. Other rules and regulations like ICC ODI rules (including the free hit, overthrows, byes,
and leg byes but excluding LBW) will be followed by the team
Back to the Childhood Rules

1. “Hit the Banner” rule where the batting team will get twice the runs when the batsman
hits the Harmony Cup, 2024 banner.

2. “Stay away region” rule where the fielding team will be allowed to choose 2 regions
around the boundary line. If the ball passes through the region, then the batting team will be
penalized (-4 runs). The bowling team will be allowed to fix this region just before the
beginning of the innings.

Power Over

1. One out of the last four overs will be the power over (last five in case of Semis and
Finals).

2. Number of runs scored in the power-over will be doubled.

3. Power over will be decided by the batting team. It must be conveyed to the umpire at
least 1over in advance (i.e., if the Power over is the 5th Over, it has to be communicated
before the start of the 4th over).

4. If the Batting Team fails to call a Power Over, the final over is unavoidably deemed to be
one.

Special Rules pertaining to girls

1. The first over of each inning should be bowled by a girl and the batting shall be opened
by at least 1 female player (Note: If a female player gets out, she should be replaced by
another female player if she is yet to bat)

2. Each run scored of the female’s bat off the bowling of a male will be equivalent to 2 runs.

3. Each run scored of the male’s bat off the bowling of a female will be equivalent to 0.5
runs.

4. The last two overs of the match were not to be bowled by a girl.

5. If a girl is bowling, there will be no extra runs for a maximum of four wide and no-balls
combined in an over (free hit also shall not apply), however, more than four wide and no
balls combined will be penalized. Example: A girl bowls a cumulative of 4 wides & no
balls, the 5th time she bowls a wide/no ball will be penalized 5 runs and each wide/no ball
thereafter will be dealt with as per ICC ODI rules.

6. The rule of ‘one tip one hand out’ shall apply if the fielder is a girl.

7. Male bowlers are not allowed to do full-hand bowling for female batsmen.
However, female bowlers can do full-hand bowling for female batsmen.
Registration

Registration fee of minimum ₹ 500 X 9 members = ₹4500 per team. All proceeds shall be
donated directly to the cause of the event.

Rules may be changed in extreme circumstances to ensure smooth functioning.
