3. DESCRIPTION OF LONGITUDINAL SCRAPER

3.1. PRESENTATION

Most of the treatment plants are furnished with tanks of rectangular or special shape.
The aim of these tanks, which are used for primary or final sedimentation, is to provide
the settlement of solid content of wastewater. Settlement will be achieved in a certain
period of time by using or without using any chemicals.

Longitudinal scraper bridges are used to lead the settled particles into the collection
chamber.

 Longitudinal scraper equipment built in concrete basin. Bridge fabricated from steel
construction spanning full basin length. Sludge discharge

Main functions of the longitudinal suction bridge are:

 to scrap off the sludge from the bottom of the basin and to lead the sludge into the
discharge channel

3.2.4. Feeding of electrical power

Depending on the size of the plant and projecting electrical power will be fed on different
ways. The most popular application is that power feeding is done by means of cable car
or cable drum. There are several other systems using weights, motors or spring type
cable drums.

Horizontal and vertical motions are done by means of motor and gearbox. The
roughness that could occur at tank geometry at horizontal direction can be
compensated by means of the spring on the brush group and elevation differences .
