I. LEARNING OBJECTIVES
At the end of the lesson, the students will be able to:
A. CONTENT COMPETENCIES:
the relationship between the function and structure of biological macromolecules
B. PERFORMANCE STANDARD:
C. LEARNING COMPETENCIES:
explain how the structures of biological macromolecules such as carbohydrates, lipids, nucleic acid,
and proteins determine their properties and functions (3 hours)
S11/12PS-IIIe-22
At the end of the lesson, the students will be able to:
a. identify the how biological macromolecules are bound together
b. demonstrate the properties of the different types of biological macromolecules
c. appreciate how the biological molecules affect our day to day living
II. CONTENT
Topic: Biological Macromolecules
Learning Materials: Laptop, TV, White Board, Marker
Integration: Appreciation
A. PROCEDURE
1. Before the lesson:
2. Preliminaries
Recall the past lesson
Activity: let the students ask a following question:
Show video clips about the role of biomolecules in the body. Then facilitate an
exchange of ideas about videos.

3. Analysis:
What does intermolecular forces have to do with biological macromolecules?

4. Abstraction:
What is the role of intermolecular forces in the possibility of life here on earth?
5. Application:
Let the students conduct an experiment on different biological macromolecules
The students will be divided into two groups
1- Extraction of gluten and starch in flour
2- Extraction of DNA in a banana

After the lesson.

A. Evaluation
Short quiz
B. Assignment
Search the internet for other biological macromolecules found in foods.
