GRADE 9 – HAPPINESS

I. OBJECTIVES:
At the end of the lesson, students will be able to:

a. Identify the real numbers a, b and c;


b. appreciate the value of accuracy in solving quadratic equation using quadratic formula; and
c. solve quadratic equation using quadratic formula.

II. SUBJECT MATTER:


A. TOPIC: Solving quadratic equation using quadratic formula
B. REFERENCE: Learner’s module p.31-34, www.youtube.com
C. MATERIALS: Laptop, TV, and other Instructional materials
D. VALUES INTEGRATION: Accuracy and persistency

III. LEARNING ACTIVITIES


A. PRELIMINARY ACTIVITIES

B. DEVELOPMENTAL ACTIVITIES

a. Drill:
The teacher will give equations and let the students identify whether it is linear or
quadratic equation.

b. Review:
Let the students give the definition of quadratic equation and it’s standard form.

c. Motivation:
Let the students listen to an audio then ask the following questions:

1. What have you observed from the video?


2. In terms of the content how can you describe the video?

d. Discussion:

d.1 The teacher will briefly introduce the quadratic formula.


d.2 The teacher will demonstrate on how to solve quadratic equations using quadratic
formula.
d.3 The teacher will introduce the mechanics and implement the “MATHinik” activity

e. Generalization:
The students will be ask the following questions:

e.1 What have you learned from our discussion?


e.2 What are the steps in solving quadratic equation using quadratic formula?

f. Application:
The teacher will ask the following questions:

f.1 How are the skills developed in you through solving quadratic equation useful in other
disciplines or subjects
f.2 How is the skill in solving quadratic equation useful to you especially in dealing with
life problems?
IV. EVALUATION:
The teacher will implement differentiated activities:
Group 1. Revision of quadratic formula song tune
Group 2. Paper pencil – Solve quadratic equation problem
Group 3. Explain to the class the process of solving quadratic equation performed by
group 2.
