Description of the worksheets

In general the verification uses the EN 1933 1-8 formula.
√(s┴2 + 3 ( t┴ 2+ t//2 )) ≤ fu / (bw gM2)
s┴ ≤ 0,9 fu/gM2
Where the stresses are calculated in the section of the throat (a)

Anyway for some cases it is more easy to calculate the stresses calculated in the overturned throat (b). This simplifica
"Norme Tecniche di Costruzione" 2008.
In this case the condition is
√(n┴2 + t┴ 2+ t//2) ≤ fyk b1
|n┴| + |t┴ | ≤ fyk b2
where
fyk : material yield stress
b1 and b2 depends by the materials.

This method is more conservative than the standard approach.

The sheet gives the possibility to change material values with respect to the ones in the Eurocode.
In this case it is possible to change the fy, fu and b parameters in the tables close to the interested section, in the cells
In this case it is responsibility of the designer to insert the appropriate values for the parameters.
Welding full penetration NOT AVAILABLE
The worksheet reports the general condition for full penetration welding case as per Eurocode norms EN 1933 1-8.
In a full penetration welding (butt welding), the joint resistance is equal to the weakest material component, if it is satis
In the worksheet it is verified if this condition is true.
It is needed to insert the dimensional parameters of the welding.
