Individual Research Proposal (IRP)

Weight: 70%

Brief description: After the course week ends, all student will develop an individual research
proposal in written format (Word/PDF). The proposal should outline a research proposal that, if the
proposed research were to actually be conducted, would lead to relevant, valid and reliable findings.

Mandatory formatting requirements:

The IRP should consist of three chapters:


1. Research problem (including research problem, research question and scientific and
managerial relevance)
2. Theoretical framework (including definitions of all core concepts, the conceptual model, a
description of the theoretical mechanism, and hypotheses/propositions with motivation)
3. Methods (including all methodological design choices: research design/strategy, sampling,
data collection, operationalization, data analysis, and quality criteria (all forms of validity and
reliability)
The IRP should come with a (full) reference list meeting the APA requirements. All in-text
references should also meet APA requirements. Note: The assignment is scanned for plagiarism.
Maximum word count (incl. reference list, excl. appendices): 2500 words
Beware: Failure to use the mandatory template (see above) and components and exceeding the
word count limit may result in a reduction of the IRP grade.
