What were Patagonia’s specific sustainability initiatives highlighted in the video?

- Align activities with environmental objectives: To meet its environmental


goals, Patagonia places a high value on durability while designing and
producing its outdoor apparel and equipment. Reducing waste and
consumption is the aim. The business also reduces its environmental effect
by utilizing as much organic and recycled material as possible, fixing clothing
that is torn, and making sure that every supplier in its supply chain complies
with strict environmental protection regulations.

How do these initiatives contribute to the UN SDGs?

- The rise of eco-friendly companies presents a vital force in achieving the


United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). These 17 goals,
adopted from 2015, represent a global blueprint for tackling critical challenges
like poverty, inequality, climate change, and environmental degradation by
2030. A company being eco-friendly goes beyond simply reducing its
environmental impact. It represents a proactive approach to addressing some
of the world's most pressing challenges, aligning with the UN SDGs and
contributing to a more sustainable and equitable future for all. By integrating
eco-friendly practices into their core operations, companies can become
powerful agents of change, demonstrating leadership and inspiring others to
embrace a more sustainable future.

How were Patagonia’s core values reflected in their SDG integration?


- One of the parts of Patagonia’s core values which is “Do no harm” translates
to a principle that extends beyond the immediate impact of their operations
and products. It signifies a proactive approach to minimizing negative
consequences across their entire ecosystem, encompassing environmental,
social, and economic spheres.

What were the ethical challenges & opportunities involved in Patagonia’s


sustainability initiatives?

- Patagonia’s sustainability initiatives is one of its biggest strengths as their


initiatives are what makes the company stand out as an eco friendly
company. The company did not hop on any ecological trends many business
do in the present day since from the start, Patagonia has been eco conscious
with the products they manufacture.

How can you manifest the Benildean Expressions of the Lasallian Core Values when
integrating the SDGs in a corporate or business setting?

- Put the needs of employees, communities, and the environment above profit
maximization in order to focus on achieving a greater purpose. Business
objectives should be in line with the SDGs, which tackle important
environmental and socioeconomic issues. Applying the Lasallian spirit of
creativity to produce goods, services, and business plans that specifically
target the UN SDG’s

- Encourage a work climate that respects and appreciates every person,


regardless of background or views, to advance diversity and inclusion in the
workplace. This can raises employee engagement and innovation and is in
line with SDG 10, "Reduced Inequalities."
- Engage communities in a meaningful way by working with local NGO’S to
determine and meet their needs and promote the growth and well-being of
the local community. This fosters cooperation and trust and is in line with
SDG 11, "Sustainable Cities and Communities."
