On behalf of the Organizing Committee, we are pleased to GKVK campus, University of
invite you to Bengaluru, India, to participate in the 20th Agricultural Sciences (UAS), Bengaluru
International Symposium on Rice Functional Genomics
(ISRFG 2023), to be held on 03 - 05 November 2023. The
theme of the symposium for this year is “Rice research for National Organizing Committee
sustainable food and nutrition security”. The Symposium will
cover exciting development from lab to field-based research Akhilesh K. Tyagi
on response to biotic and abiotic stresses, photosynthesis, Alok K. Sinha

About ISRFG

The completion of rice genome sequencing invigorated rice research world-wide and accelerated the
quest for understanding various functions leading to sustainable food and nutritional security. The
International Symposium on Rice Functional Genomics (ISRFG) has been held annually in different
countries and regions. These symposia witnessed a strong commitment for showcasing research findings,
exciting discoveries and new insights in rice functional genomics for the development of long-lasting
international collaborations. Supported by these intense collaborative research on structural and
quantitative genomics, functions of thousands of rice genes have already been unravelled. New
approaches including pan-genome, epi-genome, regulatory RNAs, molecular genetics and genome-editing
are being utilized for harnessing the advantages of gene functions in rice crop improvement and for
understanding the crop’s resilience to changing climate. The 20th ISRFG at Bengaluru (India) is expected to
provide an excellent forum for taking the efforts forward and to capture the emerging outcomes with a
vision for rice crop improvement for global food and nutrient security with minimum impact on
environment.
