RE: Opposition to SUP for 3104 Fairmount Street (Z234-108)

Dear Ms. Potter,

I have been informed by my Client, Selene Capital Development, LLC who owns four properties in the
Oak Lawn area of Dallas that Tiny & Gigi LLC is seeking an SUP for the sale of alcoholic beverages in
conjunction with a liquor store for the property located at 3104 Fairmount Street. My Client owns the
properties located at 2905 Maple Avenue and 2917, 2921 and 2923 Fairmount and is absolutely opposed
to a liquor store opening. We are in the process of planning real estate development projects that will
improve the atmosphere and property values of the Oak Lawn area – a liquor store does the opposite.

We urge you to please reject the SUP for 3104 Fairmount Street (Z234-108). Approval of this SUP
would detrimentally impact the property values and increase crime in the Oak Lawn area. “The
National Institute of Health found that overall alcohol establishment density was positively associated
with violent crime, indicating that neighborhoods with more alcohol establishments tend to have more
assault, rape, robbery, and overall violent crime than neighborhoods with fewer alcohol
establishments.”

I have included numerous articles supporting the conclusion that liquor stores increase violent and non-
violent property crime on the following page! Please take the time to research this issue before voting.

Sincerely,

Michael Weaver, J.D.
