DOCTOR OF BUSINESS LEADERSHIP DEGREE FEBRUARY 2024 INTAKE

Applications are invited for admission into the Doctor of Business Leadership (DBL) degree
programme at the Midlands State University for the February 2024 Intake.

Programme Overview
The programme provides an opportunity to practicing executive managers and directors to
investigate the ongoing practices in their organisations in order to develop new contextual
theories, or theories that will complement those built around the practices of organisations in
developed markets.

Programme Summary
The Doctor of Business Leadership degree commences with three (3) semesters of taught
modules. The second stage of the programme, which should take another three (3) semesters,
involves undertaking a supervised and externally examined doctoral thesis.

Admission Requirements
To be eligible for admission to the Doctor of Business Leadership programme, a candidate
must have:
 At least five (5) years managerial experience, of which three (3) years or more must
be at Executive Management and/or Director levels.
 A good pass in a relevant business-related Masters or MPhil degree from a reputable
institution.
 A short summary of the intended research consisting of a topic, introduction, brief
literature review, methodology and references (Maximum length of 8 pages).

  Two references from reputable people certifying their ability and suitability to
undertake the programme successfully.
 Note that only short-listed candidates will be communicated to.

Programme Delivery
The programme employs a blended-learning approach which combines traditional face-to-
face and online learning.

Alternatively, an applicant can obtain an application form physically from the Admissions
Office at our Gweru, Harare (No.1 Kwame Nkrumah Avenue) and Zvishavane Campuses. A
non-refundable application fee of one hundred dollars (USD100) or its ZWL equivalent at the
prevailing interbank rate for Zimbabwean applicants and one hundred and fifty dollars
(USD150) for international applicants is charged for each application.

Please note that the DPhil application forms will be used to apply for the DBL programme.
