It is a great pleasure and honor to extend a warm welcome to Mr.
Philippe Metzger, the esteemed CEO of the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), as he graces us with his presence during his visit to Egypt. Egypt, we have recognized the significance of international collaboration and the adoption of global standards to drive our economic growth and enhance our competitiveness on the global stage. On behalf of the people of Egypt, I extend my deepest gratitude to Mr. Philippe Metzger for gracing us with his presence. Your visit not only reaffirms the strong relationship between the IEC and Egypt but also serves as an inspiration for us to strive for excellence in our pursuit of national and international standards. Mr. Philippe, The IEC National Committee of Egypt has done everything in its power to prepare a wonderful IEC General Meeting in Cairo and we would be pleased to welcome you all delegates in Cairo. The NC of Egypt responded positively the decree of IEC board to hold the GM in fully virtual format and we highly considered all concerns of GM Participants. We closely followed up all negotiations between the IEC and the Egyptian committee to mitigate all consequences of the decision to convert the event into a virtual format including to reach better and fair settlement of the financial compensation for all parties. Mr. Metzger, your visit is a testament to the strong bond that exists between the IEC and Egypt, and it signifies the vital role that Egypt plays in the global arena of electrotechnical standardization. Your presence here today reflects the importance and value that the IEC places on collaboration, innovation, and the development of international standards. At the same time, we are working on improving the participation of the Egyptian NC in the IEC international standardization process, including establishing active national mirror committees, recruiting experts, participating in international standardization meetings, including IEC GMs, and engaging other stakeholders and also incroporating in all CA programs and helping our brother countries in Africa through our supporting to AFSEC. Once again, welcome, Mr. Metzger. May your visit to Egypt be fruitful, filled with enriching experiences, and serve as a stepping stone towards even greater collaboration between the IEC and Egypt. Thank you.
