Importance of Balance between Character Education and Academic

Hello to all audience. Before i start my speech today, I would like to introduce myself. I’m the
Cadet Candidate of Merchant Marine Higher Education Jakarta batch 66, Hizkya Elvend Musak
from Batam, Riau Islands Province. I’m majoring in Nautical, class Nautical 1 Echo. At this
moment, im going to deliver my speech which is talking about “Importance of Balance between
Character Education and Academic”.
For being a success person in the future, we need to improve our self into another level. For
example academic. Academic was very important for all of us. As a cadet candidate in Merchant
Marine Higher Education Jakarta, we need to learn and keep learning about our major that we
took. Keep focus on class while the lecture was explaining to make sure we do our best on
exams and maintain your academic score. Even better, we could improve our scores. People
who are academically successful with high levels of education are more likely to be employed,
have a stable employment, and also have more employment opportunities than those with less
academic education. Also with successful academic, we might get a higher salaries due to value
that we have.
Besides that academic knowledge was important for us, character education also. While
academic makes our scores high, character education makes us become a better person not just
for our self, but the impact was for everyone around us. It might our family, our friends, our
lecture, even the people’s around us. To improve our character education, we have to think
about others, not just our self. Thinking about others makes we learn how to treat them good.
Otherwise we don’t, people might don’t like us because of our character. Also having good
character matters in this world. Because good people with good character make a better society
for us all to live and exist in. When we’re faced with challenges, it is good character that allows
us to overcome and make morally right choices. Also by showing good character through our
actions, we are modeling for others around us.
Now the point is, which one is more important? Is it academic, or it might be character
education? Well the answer is both of them were important. Both academic and character
education has a positive value, but if we could make both our character and academic, that’s
will be something than just took only one of it. In this days, people don’t just want us to be
smart, to be good at academic, but people also were looking for someone that could make
people keep in touch. Eventhough you’re not good at academic, people will still respect on us
because of our behavior. Also with a good academic, our chance to be financially successful will
be higher than others. Both academic and character education cannot be seperated. Be a
person who can achieve the highest level of education and have a good character for the people
around us.
I think that’s all for my speech today, I wish we could learn something new from my speech
