What is Biko? -Biko is an aged old outdoor


game played by children in
Pontevedra, Capiz. It is a girl’s
game and yet boys enjoy it too.
Biko is very popular in
Pontevedra, Capiz. A child can
play this alone but is usually
much more fun if you have
several playmates to play with.
This game is played on a not-so-
slow-pace but not-so-fast
either.

How does it play? -BIKO uses batano to start the


game and and the player with
most no. of balayan wins the
game.

until you are through with
the 7th box.
11. If the player’s batano or
her body touches the line it
is called estat and it will be
the turn of others to play.
12. If the player is done with
the 7th box, she will throw
her batano on the 8thbox
and doing the same steps
until she reaches the
8thbox with both legs.
13. She will bend her body to
pick up her batano and
throwing her batano over
her head aiming the boxes
behind her. the box where
her batano landed earns
her the right to own the
box called balayan.
