2. Objective of the Training
The objective of the training program on trail bridge construction and maintenance is to equip participants
with the knowledge, skills, and tools necessary to design, construct, and maintain trail bridges effectively
and safely. The training aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of best practices, technical
aspects, and considerations involved in trail bridge projects, enabling participants to contribute to the
development of reliable and accessible trail bridge infrastructure.

3. Outcome of the training

At the end of the training, the trainees will have:
 Understanding on the contribution of Trail Bridge for Ethiopian context.
 The ability to plan, site identification, survey, and design of suspended and suspension Trail
bridges
 Understand design manuals, standards and project documents to properly utilize in the design
process.
 The ability to understand the site setting-out, construction and supervision of suspended and
suspension Trail bridges.
 The ability to manipulate standard drawings and cost estimation of trail bridges
 The ability to control the quality of bridge construction
4. The significance of the training
The training will play a vital role to address the TVT Trainers objective of Strengthened capacity of TVT
Trainers in Trail bridge survey, design construction, and maintenance.

5. Training Methodology
The training will have both theoretical and practical design sessions.
Approaches:
 Presentation with the supporting photos and videos
 Group work discussion, exercises and reflection
 Field onsite trainings and exercises
 Question and Reflection
 Experience sharing among trainees
