    Introduction

    CyberKnife® (Accuray Inc, Sunnyvale, CA, USA) is a unique image-guided stereotactic radiotherapy
    modality combining target localisation with a robotically positioned treatment delivery system. The
    CyberKnife system was originally designed in the mid-1990s and as a commercial product has
    undergone numerous generational releases since then, incorporating new technologies and
    treatment modes.

    CyberKnife is an entirely standalone system; all components are integrated including a proprietary
    treatment planning and patient management systems, thus there is no reliance on third-party
    ancillary hardware and software. A number of third-party treatment planning and patient
    management systems support CyberKnife and some level of integration is possible.
