Topic / Concept: Story Problems including multiplication and division
Expected Learning Outcome: Students will be able to apply the knowledge of multiplication
to solve story problems in real life context.
Resources Needed:
1. Pencil
2. Notebooks
3.Story cards
4. Whiteboard
5. Marker.

Lesson Activities:

Time-45 Introduction: - Teacher will start the class by narrating a story.


minutes Junu wanted to serve food to the needy people. He gave 8 packets of different kind
of food to one person. There were 20 people in total. How many packets did he
serve in all? Teacher will now extract answers for the following questions:-
 Which is the information sentence and question sentence here?
 How to find the answer?
 What will be the conclusion sentence?
After getting the answers from the students, she will write that multiplication
sentence and from that sentence she will write one division sentence by taking
help from the class and will discuss the method of solving division story
problem.

Main activity (During Lesson) :-
Teacher will divide the class into 5 groups. Each group will be given a story in a
flash card. They will write statements and solve the word problem.

Plenary (Post Lesson): Now that the students have learnt to solve multiplication
and division story problems they will do the following :-
CW – Learner’s Book page 167 (Q4 [b]) and page 172(Q4[b]).

Exit: Ask the students two real life examples of multiplication and division and make story
with it.

Competencies /Global skills developed: Students were able to apply the knowledge of
multiplication to solve story problems in real life context.
