2/13/24, 10:52 AM Business Insider Mail - Re: Business Insider article
Hi,
I'm a reporter at Business Insider, working on an article about Dan Ariely. I wanted to see if you would be able to provide
any comment on Duke's investigation into allegations that Ariely falsified data. Ariely told me:
“Duke’s investigation found no evidence to show I was responsible for data falsification or knowingly used falsified data in
relation to the 2012 PNAS paper. Duke’s findings are that the data were indeed falsified, and that I should have more
thoroughly vetted the data and more diligently stored records about the data. In short, the investigation found there was
more I could have done to prevent falsified data from being published."
I wanted to see if you could confirm this is accurate, and provide any additional context. My deadline is this Friday. Happy
to speak on the phone, if that would be more convenient — my number is (646) 768-4740.
Best,
Kate
