Hi Parents,

My name is Ms. Turner and I teach seventh grade Texas History. I went to Texas A&M University
College Station, and obtained a Communications degree that is pre-law focused, I also minored in
general business. When I was in college I powerlifted at the collegiate and the national level and I had so
much fun!

In my class it is very important that students come prepared with their supplies everyday
(pencil, notebook, Chromebook and charger) because this is how they will complete their assignments
everyday in class. It is also important that when students enter the class they come in quietly and head
straight to their seats in order to limit the number of students standing and walking around for safety
reasons. Last but not least, students need to use academic language in my classroom and
profanity/slurs will not be tolerated.

My grading process is simple, students that are absent have 2 days to complete the assignments
once they return to school. If we have homework and a student chooses to not do that homework
assignment they have one day to make it up but they will lose 20 points or they can receive a zero for
the assignment. Next, if there is an assignment with no name on it, students will lose 20 points on that
assignment because I have reminded them daily that it is important to have a heading in the top right
corner.

If you would like to communicate with me about your child please don’t hesitate to email me at
dlturner@garlandisdnet. or if you would like to talk to me in person we can schedule a conference
during my tutorial times mon-tues 4:15-5pm.

Thank you so much parents for your time and attention. I look forward to teaching and
encouraging all of your children throughout this school year!
