The minimum wall thickness of the valves shall satisfy the P/T rating of the class in ASME B16.34 which shall be proved by calculation to ASME VIII division 1 (section UG-101). Valve Bodies Valves andior valve-components in forged materials that have significant changes of section, e.g. flanges, end adaptors, extended bonnets, shall be forged close to final shape before machining, to ensure adequate grain flow at changes of section. Heavily machined flange shapes are not acceptable. Flanged end valves with welded on flanges are not permitted. Ball The ball shall be of a trunnion mounted design in the following sizes, however individual purchase description or data sheets shall prevail. 12" and larger. 10° and larger. Reduced bore classes 150 and 300 Full bore classes 150 and 300 Reduced bore class 600 - 4" and larger. Full bore class 600 - 4" and larger. Reduced bore class 900/500 2" and larger. Full bore class 900/1500 : 14" and larger. Balls shail be of the solid type, unless other types are approved by the Contractor. The ball shall be capable of withstanding the maximum differential pressure, in either flow direction, as per the appropriate class. An integral ball/stem design for seat supported (floating) ball is not acceptable. Bore of ball valves shall be reduced bore or full bore as per the requirement specified in the purchase description. The bore size of all reduced bore valves shall be corresponding to that of full bore vaive of one size reduction. Valves stems shall be of one piece construction, Seats Seat Ratings Metal seats shall be full rated in either flow direction. Soft seated ball valves in classes 150 and 300, specified as seat supported (floating ball) design shall have PTFE or reinforced PTFE seats. This seat rating shall not be less than the body rating at design temperature of maximum 120°C. Alternative Seat materials are subject to Contractors/Clients approval. Antistatic Design When valves are provided with soft seats, their design shall ensure electric continuity between the bail and the body, by means of an antistatic device. 8.3.4 Stem Retention (Antiblowout) The antibiow-out stem/body configuration shall be capable of withstanding the full internal pressure of the valve as per the appropriate class. Stem retention by means of body/stem threads is not acceptable ‘The stem retainer ring or collar shall be integral with the stem The stem retention shall be designed as an axial bearing, unless a bearing has been incorporated in a different manner. 83.5 WRENCH The position of a wrench or indicator shall be in the direction of the line when the valve is open and be perpendicular to the fine when the valve is closed. Wrenches shall have a fixing bolt and/or nut. 84 VALVES IN SOUR SERVICE For materials specified as ‘sour service’, all requirements of NACE MR-01-75 shall apply and carbon steel materials shall have a carbon equivalent (CE) of max. 0.43%. Valves specified as "No Copper Permitted” shall not have copper (except trace amounts) or copper bearing alloys used in their construction. This applies to internal and external parts and bolting lubricants Bonnet Gaskets Metallic and non-metallic bonnet gaskets, shall have corrosion resistance equal, at least, to that of the body and bonnet materials. Asbestos shall not be used in any case. The temperature range for the packing shall be consistent with the maximum/minimum design temperature for the valves specified. + Stem packing for copper alloy valves shall be individual rings of square cross section, graphite impregnated, corrosion inhibited, braided synthetic non-asbestos yarn, reinforced with Inconel or Monel or equal wire and finished with a graphite lubricant. Mica and PTFE lubricants and impregnations are not allowed. + Where PTFE gaskets, seals, seat inserts, stem seals, gland packing etc., are specified, the material shall be virgin or glass fibre-reinforced poly- tetrafluoroethylene. Gear Operators ‘The material of a gearbox housing shall be nodular cast iron, or equivalent alternative. All gearbox internals other than seals shall be metallic, In order to prevent seizing of parts in contact with one another, there must be difference in hardness between seats, oblurators, stems, etc. Flexible Graphite Stem Packing Material (Stuffing Box) Die-formed rings + Expanded graphite. + Purity = 989%, (ash content maximum 2.0%). + Chlorine content maximum 50 ppm. + Density 1.4 to 1.6 g/m? + Binder and fillers are not acceptable. Substitutions shall not be made unless written authorisation is obtained from COMPANY/CONTRACTOR. Such authorisation however, shall in no way diminish the SUPPLIER's obligation to meet the requirements of the latest issues of the standards and specifications referred to in this Specification. ‘Any substitution of equivalent materials shall require the prior approval of COMPANY! CONTRACTOR FABRICATION WELDING All welding shall be performed in accordance with ASME 831.3. REPAIR WELDS a) No repair welds to valve bodies shall be made until the SUPPLIER receives in writing the PURCHASER/COMPANY's approval of the weld procedure and qualification tests. CONTRACTOR / PURCHASER reserves the right to refuse any weld repair. b) Weld repairs are permissible for castings only. Defective cast valve bodies and bonnets may be repaired by welding in accordance with the provisions of their respective standards and subject to agreement by CONTRACTOR / PURCHASER. Repairs shall be post weld heat treated if required by the product specification. c) Castings shall not be impregnated with sodium silicate or any other material to prevent leakage during pressure testing. d) The welding procedures and qualifications of the welding procedures and welders to be employed in making the repairs must be in accordance with ASTM A488 or ASME Section IX. e) For weld repair qualification the SUPPLIER shall carry out any heat treatment, NDE and Charpy impact testing appropriate to the material being repaired pigrcosuss imiooanRes 1310061 Re gee Sheet 190f3 ‘Technip Doc. INSPECTION AND TESTING INSPECTION LEVELS Valves and valve parts shall be inspected/tested according to the examination procedures and to the extent as indicated in table 1, for valves in general service. Ultrasonic examination may be applied instead of radiographic examination when the configuration precludes radiography. Category A Valves for: Pressure class 150, 300 All sizes. Ultrasonic Examination When ultrasonic examination is applied instead of radiography, the ultrasonic examination procedures shall conform to ASME section V, articles 5 and 23. Approved methods for hardness measurements are the standard tests or the following portable methods: Equo-tip, Diamond-tip and Tele-Brinell (use of these methods shall be within the limits of their application). SPARES The Supplier shall recommend and submit his priced spare parts list strictly in accordance with Project Document "Spare Parts Procedures” referred in the Purchase Reauisition 16. PREPARATION FOR SHIPMENT Machined or threaded surfaces shall be coated with an easily removable rust protective fluid e.g. Shell Ensis MD or equivalent. QUALITY ASSURANCE The Manufacturer shall operate a quality system which ensure that requirements of this standard are achieved. The quality system shall preferably be based on ISO 9000 series of standards and manufacturer shall demonstrate compliance by providing a copy of the accredited certificate or the manufacturer's quality manual. WARRANTY Not withstanding the valve's design code requirements, valves shall be warranted by the manufacturer against defective material, poor workmanship, and improper design for a period of one year after being placed in service or 24 months from the date of receipt at site which ever is later.
