To
The Principals of Government/Aided/ Private Polytechnics

Madam/Sir,

Sub: Technical Education – SBTET, A.P – Academic – Academic Year 2023-24 -

Deviations and Violations reported in the ongoing Industrial Training to the VI
semester Polytechnic students of Government/Aided/Private Polytechnics
including Engineering Colleges offering Diploma Courses in Engineering and
Technology – Instructions on Corrective Actions- Intimation - Reg.

Ref: 1. Note approved by DTE and Chairperson, SBTET on 18-01-2024.

2. Report received from Deputy Director (T&P), through DTE, dated: 13-01-2024.
3. VC held on 10-01-2024 and instructions of DTE on 13.01.2024.
4. Lr.No.SBTET/A.P/Academic/Industrial Training/Deviations, dt. 18-01-2024.
5. Explanation submitted by the institutes for the show-cause memo.

*****
All the principals are requested to note that the “Diploma” will be awarded to the
students who complete the academic and training activities by attending the classes and
trainings for the prescribed number of periods as per the guidelines issued. Any deviation in
this regard, the student will not be issued Diploma Certificate by SBTET, AP.

Industrial training is an important “ONE COMPLETE SEMESTER” activity which is

very important for professional courses like Diploma in Engineering vide ref (2) cited above,
the Director of Technical Education observed certain deviations in the conduct of “industrial
training” by some institutes. The deviated institutes are issued memo vide ref (4) and received
the explanations, vide ref (5) cited above.

After examining the explanations submitted by the Institutes, it is observed that the
institutes are not recognizing their role in the conduct of “industrial training”. Under these
circumstances the following important points are reiterated for stressing the seriousness of
observing “teaching-learning activity”:

1. The institutes are not taking the responsibility of identifying industries for industrial
training.
Action: The institute should either locate the industries or contact the Industries
Department for identifying industries for industrial training (a full
semester academic activity). It is the responsibility of the institute to
provide industrial training with hands on Practical Field Experience.

2. The institutes are asking the students to get permissions from industries for industrial
training.

Action: It is the responsibility of the institute to provide industrial training with

hands-on Practical Field Experience.

3. The institutes are yielding to the parents’ pressure to violate the industrial training
procedure.

Action: The institute should enlighten the parents about the seriousness of the
industrial training (a full semester activity). It is the responsibility of the
institute to provide industrial training with hands on Practical Field
Experience.

4. The institutes are not physically checking the industry before sending students to that
industry (simply accepting the pamphlets shown by so called industries).

Action: The institute should physically visit the industry and satisfy themselves
with the real industrial activity, then only attach students for industrial
training

5. The institutes are saying that they are unable to find industries.

Action: The institute is committed to providing good quality teaching learning

facilities for both theory, practical and industrial training, once the
institute opens for admissions. It is the responsibility of the institute to
provide industrial training with hands on Practical Field Experience.

6. The institutes are depending on 3rd party consultants for industrial training.

Action: Depending on 3rd Party consultants / unrecognized agencies is not

permitted. The institute should physically visit the industry and satisfy
themselves with the real industrial activity, then only attach students for
industrial training.

7. The institutes are sending students to the industrial training on payment basis.

Action: The students should be provided industrial training with a stipend or

else without a stipend. There should not be any paid training even if the
parents are willing to pay.

The “action” indicated is to be followed. If any institute do not follow the

Instructions and do not take necessary corrective actions, Penal action will be
initiated against the institutes.

Sincerely,

K. V. Ramana Babu
SECRETARY (FAC)
SBTET, A.P.
