Diet and Nutrition is one of the most discussed topics today. It

is important to have some knowledge about your individual or
general overall health. Whether you choose to be aware of the
significance diet and nutrition have in your daily lifestyle, it is
essential to have the tools in hopes of a better living. Below is
a guide to help you better value diet and nutrition.

Key Points

Food Choices
A food choice means an option to decide and pick from what is
readily available to you. Food choice provides body
maintenance and the fuel our body needs to maintain a healthy
and functional lifestyle. Although there may be times when
your food choices may be limited, the

Foodborne Illness and Disease

Foodborne illnesses and diseases can be hazardous to any human’s
health. This can be caused by either food poisoning, or food
infections, which is an ingestion of contaminated food.

The Organic Movement

Organic movement is the food that is produced by natural,
unrefined, and an untreated system. These foods don’t have all
the added chemicals (fertilizer or artificial chemicals) that
regular food has.

Nutritional Websites

WebMD

WebMD is a very instrumental website, it has all the tools that are
needed for health, mental, and weight management. This website
offers information for any person who needs guidance and ways to
better themselves and their lifestyle. It is easy to navigate within
this site; this site even provides information on home remedies,
over the counter, and prescribed medication.

Oxygen

Oxygen is a website that is directed more towards the female

population but has tools that can aid any person. I love this
website. It has provided me with different ways to better my
workout regime, eating habits, and overall outlook on health. This
website is ideal, and I can’t imagine not having it readily
accessible.

My Pyramid Planner

I enjoyed learning about this website, it has helped me manage my

daily caloric intake and be mindful of my eating habits. This
website allows you to plug in all your food (breakfast, snack,
lunch, and dinner), which in turn can help you visually see what
you in taking daily. This website allows you to see the percentage
of food once you plug in the food in your logbook. For example, it
gives you the percentage in the area that you may be lacking,
whether it may be that you need more grains, protein, or even
dairy. I recommend this website to any person who is looking to
keep track of their daily food intake and needs to be made aware of
their daily nutrition pyramid.

Obesity Crisis: How the Food Industry Profits While Society Pays

Obesity is a crisis in this country; we see it in our elderly, young adults, and
children. This to me is the most heartbreaking of all, since they don’t really have a
sense of direction they need to be guided and they just follow and mimic what they
see within the household, whether it’s with not eating breakfast or just eating the
wrong meal to start of their day. This disease is affecting so many people, causing
them to develop diabetes, heart disease and live a shorter life. Obesity also
contributes to more than 20 chronic diseases, to include cancer, arthritis and even
Alzheimer’s/Dementia disease.

Nutrition, Physical Activity, and Health Software

Live strong is a nutrition website like many others that provides information and ways to
either maintain or lose some extra pounds. Live strong provides you with an idea of what
your daily caloric intake should be, depending on your activity level throughout the day.
I was surprised that he suggested I only eat 821 calories a day. The reason for this is
because I work as an administrative assistant, and it confines me to sitting in a chair for
most of the day. This website may seem like many others, its readily accessible to the
public and you are able to gain and have any health information with just one click.

Country of Choice – Puerto Rico

Puerto Rico is an island not too far from the state of Florida; it has delicious and
traditional ethnic food. Puerto Rico has a wide variety of delicious and yet so tempting
foods. They cook very similar to the Cuban culture. Their main ingredients that they use
are coriander, papaya, cacao, and plantains. For each meal they assure that they have a
little bit of everything, for example, for lunch and dinner they might start off with an
appetizer that may consist of an empanadillas (turnover) or a black bean soup. The soup
is my favorite, it has a delicious flavor, and it takes a minimal amount of time to prepare
and cook. One of their most popular dishes is carne guisada Puertorriquena;(Puerto-
Rican beef stew) it consists of chunks of beef, green peppers, sweet Chile peppers,
onions, garlic, cilantro, potatoes, olives stuffed with pimentos, or capers. The Latin
culture has a good number of tasty dishes; you will have all a little bit of everything and

most importantly you can assure that you will have all the major food groups in either
every meal or at least one throughout the day.
