    The Darangen is an ancient epic song that encompasses a wealth of knowledge of the Maranao people who live in the Lake Lanao region of
    Mindanao. This southernmost island of the Philippine archipelago is the traditional homeland of the Maranao, one of the country’s three main
    Muslim groups.

    Is the most important type of vocal music. The Ulaging is an epic cycle among the Talaandig Manobo of Bukidnon, Mindanao. Like most epics,
    its associate with the sacred as the deities invoked.

    It recalls the adventure of the main hero Agyu and his brother and sisters. This is sung at nigh!ime for at least some hours, in some cases up to
    several nights.
