III. PROCEDURE
A. Overview
1. Review: The reporter will ask the students if they have idea about the
background of Automotive.
2. Motivation: The reporter will show the students a brief concept of
Automotive.
Then, the reporter will ask them: What is the role of Automotive in our
daily lives?
3. Presentation: The reporter will present the lesson for today: History of
Automotive through power point presentation. The reporter will present
the Etymology of Automotive

What is Automotive?
Is a self-propelled road vehicles or machines designed to transport passengers
What is Automobile?
It is usually four-wheeled vehicle (ex. Cars vans and trucks).
It derived from the Ancient word “autos” meaning “self” and from the
Latin word “mobilis” meaning “movable”

1.Military Tractor
In 1769, the very first self-propelled road vehicle was a military tractor invented
by French Engineer and Mechanic, Nicolas Joseph Cugnot. Cugnot used steam
engine to power his vehicle built under his constructional at the Paris Arsenal by
Mechanic Brezin.
It was used by French Army to haul artillery at a whopping speed of 2 ½ mph on
only three wheels. The steam engine and boiler were separate from the rest of
the vehicle and placed in front (see engraving above).
2.Steam- Powered Engine Tricycle
In 1770, Cugnot built a steam-powered tricycle that carried four passengers.
Steam engine is an engine that uses that expansion of rapid condensation of
steam to generate power. James Wattson invented the steam engine during
