Exploring/Emerging (E) - a level of practice in which the teacher leader relies on ongoing assistance
from more experienced colleagues for support, guidance, and survival. The teacher leader is moving
toward becoming more self-directed and independent in her/his practice. ​

Applying (A) - a level of practice in which the teacher leader is able to provide independent
leadership and easily applies what s/he has learned about leadership.

Integrating/Innovating (I) - a level of development in which the teacher leader is fully skilled and
confident. The Integrating/Innovating teacher leader contributing to the broader educational
community through staff development, research, or publication in professional journals. ​

Our school has quite a few new teachers this year. One area of growth would be to become more

During PD days, I have taken the lead in the group
discussion and communicating what we discuss with
the entire group.

I have spoken with the principal about adding more


professional development opportunities. Last year we
had a PD opportunity offered to us, but this year there
haven’t been any external PD opportunities offered or
any PD budget available.

Our current principal has been great in utilizing google
docs, sheets, and forms to communicate and keep
track of all the various events. I utilize these tools to
inform myself and keep myself up to date on due dates
and upcoming events. At times I have volunteered to
help with managing some these tasks.

a. Facilitates the collection, analysis, and use of classroom and school-based data to E
identify opportunities to improve curriculum, instruction, assessment, school
organization, and school culture.

I engage in reflective dialogue with my 2nd grade co to take more of a leadership role in the next school year
teacher next door. I speak with her about assessment in terms of sharing and discussing ways we can improve
data and we discuss ways to support our students and our school curriculum, assessment and school

Again, I would say that I have collaborated with I would like to collaborate more with my colleagues by

local, state, and national trends and policies can impact classroom practices and
expectations for student learning.

learning processes that meet the needs of all students.
c. Collaborates with colleagues to select appropriate opportunities to advocate for the E
rights and/or needs of students, to secure additional resources within the building or
district that support student learning, and to communicate effectively with targeted
audiences such as parents and community members.

I communicated with a fellow teacher about concerns

ideas to the principal and the administration did not
agree with our decision. This is why I believe we could
have been stronger advocates.

taking the initiative to contact one of the services I
wanted to acquire and even got a quote.

Summary of Strengths and Areas of Possible Growth


I believe domain 7 is my weakest area and would like to grow in this area throughout this semester. I think my
strengths would be that I can be a leader in small group situations and help lead or facilitate communication
between us.
