Investigate Fluid Power in Mechatronic Systems NEW
Investigate Fluid Power in Mechatronic Systems NEW
For use by developers of UAE national occupational standards (UAE-NOS) packaged as unit
standards
Outcome 1 LO01
Performance criteria
PC01 Implement components according to different mechatronics applications
PC02 Apply simulation techniques to implement fluid power systems
Specific evidence requirements
Knowledge Evidence:
The learner must be able to:
Understand the classification of fluid power systems including pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
Understand how the simulation software operates and its basic functions
Explain the function of the components being implemented in mechatronic applications.
Authentic projects and case studies could be designed to combine and assess learner achievement of all
performance criteria in this Learning Outcome.
Summative evidence for the above could come from written and oral presentations; formal assessments;
demonstrations; portfolio of evidence
Outcome 2 LO02
Performance criteria
PC01 Understand the principles of energy transfer in liquids and gases and their associated
theorems/laws/formulas
PC02 Analyse the performance of fluid power systems including the power, horsepower, flow rate, torque
and viscosity, etc.
PC03 Select components based on technical requirements of mechatronic systems
Specific evidence requirements
Performance Evidence:
Evidence shall show that competence has been demonstrated for the Learning outcome on at least two separate
occasions, autonomously and to requirements.
In particular, the assessment process shall provide evidence that the learner is able to:
• Classify liquids based on their characteristics.

Knowledge Evidence:
The learner must be able to:
Explain the principles of energy transfer in fluid power systems.
• Identify the principles/laws/theorems governing fluid power systems.
• Understand the formulas related to fluid power components/systems
Authentic projects and case studies could be designed to combine and assess learner achievement of all
performance criteria in this Learning Outcome.
Summative evidence for the above could come from written and oral presentations; formal assessments;
demonstrations; portfolio of evidence
In particular, the assessment process shall provide evidence that the learner is able to;
Simulate simple fluid power systems to fulfill specific tasks.
• Implement fluid power systems using hardware components.
• Implement sequences using hardware components.
Knowledge Evidence:
The learner must be able to:
