TAEKWONDO

TECHNICAL GUIDELINES AND GROUND RULES

I. OBJECTIVES OF THE ACTIVITY

This proposed sporting activity aims to:

1. promote healthy lifestyles amidst pandemic,


2. provide avenue for exciting activities that will develop physically and
mentally of our students from the members school of OPSCSI,
3. Create our own sporting events in our organization that will line up with
BUCAL, PRISAA and other athletic league in our province.
4. Create developmental league in our organization that will give us opportunity
to select and developed quality athlete that will represent OPSCSI in
DepEdPalaro, regional and national competition, even in other international
competition.

II. TAEKWONDO EVENT AND CATEGORY

1. Kyorugi Note: contestant will follow the weight category

III. REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS


1. Only officially enrolled students in Mariners’ Polytechnic Colleges
Foundation.
2. Students from Senior High School and College of combination from
SHS and college.
3. Taekwondo varsity players is not allowed.

IV. WEIGH-IN
1. Deputized Weigh-in Officials: only deputized weigh in officials are allowed to
weigh in participants. All documents should be marked after the weigh in.

2. Weighing Scales: Only official calibrated weighing scales shall be used.


3. Weigh-in Attire: The players’ attire during weigh-in shall be shirt with shorts,
jogging pants or dobok pants. Footwear, socks, and jewelry shall be removed
prior to weigh in.
4. Official weight limit will be strictly followed. No allowances will be given.
a. A player must compete in the weight category registered in the final weigh-in.
b. Players will not be allowed to compete in categories other than what was
registered in the final weigh-in (Ex: fin weight competing in fly weight)except
when categories are merged as decided on by the organizing committee.
V. CATEGORIES

CATEGORY MEN’S DIVISION


1. Feather over 51 - 55 kg.
2. Light over 55 - 59 kg.
3. Welter over 59 - 63 kg.

VI. COMPETITION FORMAT:

1. The teams will be divided into (2) groups/brackets. The group will be
determined by drawing of lots.

2. Schedule of games will be announced during the orientation. Venue will be on


the MPCF JCJ Complex.

3. Team in each group will play single round robin to determine the team
standings and the top two teams will advance to the SEMI-FINALS for the
cross over knock out game.

3.1 SEMIFINALS

Top 2 (Group A) vs Top 1 (Group B)

4. The SEMIFINALS WINNERS will then move to the


FINALS/CHAMPIONSHIP, while LOSERS will play for 3 and 4th
rd

PLACE.

VII. SCORING SYSTEM


1. The following scoring system shall be observed:
a. Body kick - 2 point
b. Turning kick to the body - 4 points
c. Head kick - 3 points
d. Turning kick to the head - 5 points
VIII. PROTESTS

In times of a protest games or players, the head coach must put it on a black and
white writings and must submit it to the organizing committee or tournament
manager with in the day of protest date.

Note: Protest fee is 1,500 php. No protest fee and protest letter will not be
entertained.

IX. GENERAL PROVISIONS

1. The PTA Competition Codes of Conduct shall be strictly enforced.


2. The latest resolutions on competition management, rules and regulations made
during the PTA Technical Directors meeting shall be enforced.
3. For all other matters not provided for in these ground rules, the WTF Competition
Rules and Interpretation’s latest revision shall apply.
4. Uniforms and Equipment: All contestants shall use only the recognized
Taekwondo competition uniform (dobok) and equipment of the Philippine
Taekwondo Association. All contestants shall provide their own competition
equipment (arm & shin guards, groin guard, hand gloves, transparent or white
mouth guard).
5. Coaches’ Attire: Coaches are required to wear collared shirt and coach’s vest.
No slippers or sandals, caps, sleeveless shirts will be allowed.
6. Referees: Only National and Regional Referees who have passed the course for
the current rules shall serve during the competition. They shall serve full-time.
