1. A rubber ball floats on water with its one third volume outside water. What is the
density of rubber?
2. A body weighs 82.1gf in air, 75.5gf in water 73.8gf, in a liquid.
i. Find the relative density of the liquid
ii.Find the relative density of the solid.
iii. Find the weight of the body in the air.
iv. Find the volume of the body.
3. A vessel contains water up to a height of 2 m.Area of the vessel is 100 cm2.
Calculate pressure and thrust at the base of the vessel. (Density of water is
1000kg/m3, g= 9.8m/s2.)
4. A bullet of mass 50 G moving with an initial velocity 100 M per second strikes a
wooden block and comes to rest after penetrating a distance of 2 cm in it.

iii. Retardation caused by the wooden block
iv. Resistive force exerted by the wooden block.
5. A body initially at rest, starts moving with a constant acceleration 2 m/s2.
i.Calculate the velocity acquired and distance travelled in 5 seconds.
ii. Calculate the time taken by the body to attain a velocity of 20 m/s.
6. Fig given below shows the V-t graph of a body moving in a straight line.

9. What force is applied on a piston of area of cross section 2cm2 to obtain a force of
150 N on the piston of area of cross section 12cm2 in a hydraulic machine?
10. A car travels a distance of 50 km with a velocity 25 km/h and then 60 km with a
velocity 20 km/h in the same direction. Calculate the total time of the journey and
average velocity of the car.
