Q.1Set. (A) A quadratic Bezier curve is defined by P 0 (0, 0), P1 (3, 3) and P2 (6, 0). Elevate the
degree of this Bézier segment to three. Find the midpoint of the resultant cubic
Bezier curve and original quadratic curve. [5]

Q.1Set. (B) A quadratic Bezier curve is defined by P 0 (0, 0), P1 (5, 5) and P2 (10, 0). Elevate the
degree of this Bézier segment to three. Find the midpoint of the resultant cubic
Bezier curve and original quadratic curve. [5]

Q.1Set. (C) A cubic Bezier curve is defined by P0 (0, 0), P1 (2, 5), P2 (5, 5) and P3 (7, 0). Elevate
the degree of this Bézier segment to four. Find the midpoint of the resultant quartic
Bezier curve. [5]

Q.2Set. (A) Write the matrices for finding the intermediate tangent vectors for defining the
piecewise Hermite curve with following boundary conditions (Assume there are
four points).
(i) Clamped (ii) Relaxed (iii) Cyclic and (iv) Anti-cyclic end conditions. [5]

Q.2Set. (B) List the properties of Hermite curves, Bezier curves and B-Spline curves. [5]

Q.2Set. (C) Write the differences between uniform, non-uniform and open-uniform B-Splines.

Q.3Set. (A) A cubic Bezier curve is defined by four control points P 0 = (4, 4), P1 = (6, 8), P2 =
(8, 9) and P3 = (10, 3). Find geometric coefficients of its equivalent Hermite curve.
Also, calculate the point on the Hermite and Bezier curve segments at u = 0.5. [5]

Q.3Set. (B) A Hermite curve is defined by P0 [0, 0], P1 [7, 0], P0’ [3, 6], P1’ [6,-12]. Find the
control polygon vertices of its equivalent cubic Bezier curve? Find the mid-point on
the Hermite and Bezier curve segments. [5]

Q.3Set. (C) A cubic Bezier curve is defined by four control points P 0 = (0, 0), P1 = (3, 7), P2 =
(8, 7) and P3 = (10, 0). Find geometric coefficients of its equivalent Hermite curve.
Also, calculate the point on the Hermite and Bezier curve segments at u = 0.5. [5]
Q.4Set. (A) If a cubic open uniform B-Spline curve is defined for 7 control points, (i) What is
the parameter range, (ii) What is the value of the knot vector, (iii) how many pieces
the curve will have? (iv) How many sub-convex hulls will the curve have and what
is the shape of the each? (v) What is the maximum degree curve that would have
been possible for these control points if it were not to be quadratic? [5]

Q.4Set. (B) If a quadratic open uniform B-Spline curve is defined for 13 control points, (i) What
is the parameter range, (ii) What is the value of the knot vector, (iii) how many
pieces the curve will have? (iv) How many sub-convex hulls will the curve have and
what is the shape of the each? (v) What is the maximum degree curve that would
have been possible for these control points if it were not to be quadratic? [5]

Q.4Set. (C) If a cubic open uniform B-Spline curve is defined for 10 control points, (i) What is
the parameter range, (ii) What is the value of the knot vector, (iii) how many pieces
the curve will have? (iv) How many sub-convex hulls will the curve have and what
is the shape of the each? (v) What is the maximum degree curve that would have
been possible for these control points if it were not to be quadratic? [5]

Q.5Set. (A) A cubic closed B-Spline curve is defined by P0 [2,0], P1 [4,0], P2 [4,2], P3 [4,4], P4
[2,4], P5 [0,4], P6 [0,2] and P7 [0,0] . Find the start point, end point and mid-point of
last curve segment. [5]

Q.5Set. (B) A cubic closed B-Spline curve is defined by P 0 [2,0], P1 [4,0], P2 [4,2], P3 [4,4], P4
[2,4], P5 [0,4], P6 [0,2] and P7 [0,0] . Find the start point, end point and mid-point of
fifth curve segment. [5]

Q.5Set. (C) A cubic closed B-Spline curve is defined by P 0 [2,0], P1 [4,0], P2 [4,2], P3 [4,4], P4
[2,4], P5 [0,4], P6 [0,2] and P7 [0,0] . Find the start point, end point and mid-point of
third curve segment. [5]

Q.6Set. (A) Find the curvature of the following parametric curve at u=3
x(u)= -5u y(u)= 2u3, z(u)= 3u4 [5]

Q.6Set. (B) Find the tangent vector, normal vector and bi-normal vector for the following
parametric curve
x(u)= 5 cost y(u)= 1+3 sin t z(u)= 4 sin t [5]

Q.6Set. (C) Find the curvature of the following parametric curve.
