INTRODUCTION
Nancie Atwell is an educator who has been seen as very
respected in the teaching community. She is now 72 years
old. She is a wonderful English teacher who takes her time
and uses it to improve and impact the educational
systems across America.

DONATING
Nancie Atwell had founded a k-8 school used to
demonstrate certain teaching practices and
how they worked. She would see what succeeded
and what would fail. In 1990, she donated the $1
million dollar award she had received to the
school she founded. This school was the
teaching and learning center.

AUTHOR
Nancie Atwell has also contributed by writing
books about education. She has various books
written to help other teachers around the
world adopt on her education ideologies. Some
of her books are, lessons that help writers and
systems to transform your classroom and
school.

TEACHING
Atwell also used all her practices in learning
while she was a English teacher. She created a
new way of teaching which was shown in her
very popular book, in the middle. This
technique has widely spread as well.

NO ON E BOOKS
Nancie Atwell is very much in favor of reading
physical books as they give a better understanding
and they are much easier to reread or maneuver to
get a better comprehension. her having this opinion
is valuable as he belives using physical factors is

WRITING
better for the comprehension of students.

Although Atwell is a English teacher, writing is

not her strongest element. So in order to help
her students get a deeper sense in writing. She
writes all the drafts of her books herself in a
notebook. She wants to be able to relate to
what they feel when they are writing.

TEACHER AWARD
Nancie Atwell received the global teacher award. She
received this award in 2015 for her outstanding
practices in the education system. She believes that
everyone chosen was not up on the stage just because
of there intellectual capacity but more for the passion
and willingness to innovate the way education is
taught.

CONCLUSION
Nancie Atwell was truly a very important person in the
history of reading and writing. She created ways for us to
all learn in our own way and explore what we all decide
to read. Without the contributions of Nancie atwell many
of us would be struggling in certain areas.
