EN 10314:2002 (E) Foreword, ‘This docament (EN 10314:2002) has been prepared by the ECISS/TC 22 "Steels for pressure purposes - Qualitics", the soerceariat of which is held by DIN. This European Standard shall be given the status of a national standard, cithcr by publication of an identical text or by cndorscment, at the latest by May 2{K)3, and conflicting national standards shall be withdrawn at the latest by May 2005 ‘This docament sapersedes ENV 226(05-1:1991, ENV 22605-2: 1991 and ENV 22605. This standard includes a Bibliography. According to the CEN/CENELEC intemal Regulations, the national standards organizations af the following countries ars boand to implement this European Standard: Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Iecland, Ireland, Haly, Laxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the United Kingdom. EN 10314:2002 (E) Introduction Minimum valucs for tensile properties are specified in European Standards for stocis and other metals for elevated temperature service. Such values arc weed to determine design strength values particularly where the materials are used in pressure systems. ‘Two International Standards, ISO 2605-1 and ISO 2605-2 are available and have been adopted by CEN os European Prestandards, ENV 2605-1 and ENV 2265-2. They sct out procedures, based on statistical asscasmomts of hodics of data, for the derivation and verification of minimum values of 0,25 proof strength at elevated tempecamres. These procedures determine the minimum valucs trom lower confidence Tines. A third Intemational Standard, ISO 2605-3, adopeed by CEN as ENV 2260-3, sets ont procedures for determining minimam values from the average trend behaviour of the property of interest as 2 function of temperature. One of the purposes of the procedures in ISO 2605-1 and ISO 2605-2 (ENV 22605-1 and ENV 226(15-2) is to reduce the requirement for elevated temperature tensile acceptance tests ‘on individual products by organizations and manufacturers contributing data far assessment. Experience has shown that the procedures in ISO 2605-1 and ISO 2605-2 (ENV 226015-1 and ENV 226(05-2) have limitations affecting the relationship between derived minimum property ‘valucs and the minima of the test data arising from the statistical and some subjective decisions at various stages of the procedures. They also require relatively large amounts of data to produce an acceptable level of accuracy. ‘The procedure set out in ISO 2605-3 (ENV 2205-3) requires less data Int became it is designed to always give conservative values from few data, it like the ather procedures, can, give non-representative results, However, the principle of this procedure is considered to be more realistic and is adopted as the basis of this European Standard; the objective being ta produce an asscasment procedure for tensile property data which is simple to operate, gives representative results anid is usable in compaterised form, This European Standard, replacing ENV 2605-1, -2 and -3, sets oat « method for deriving minimum proof strength values for stecls at elevated temperatures with the intention that such values are specified in rolevant product standards, ‘This European Standard does not specify a verification procedare. Verification of tensile properties at clevated temperanures is normally specified in the relevant product standard using the minimam property values derived by the procedare established in this European Standard, ‘The method proposed has been tested for proof strength valuss of steel. However, itis considered that the method can alsa be applied fir other metals and for the derivation of minimum values of tensile strength at clevated temperamres. i | | | EN 10314:2002 (E) 1 Seope ‘This European Standard specifies a method for deriving the minimum proof strength values for steels at elevated temperanares. However, this standard does not specify 2 verification procedure. 2 Normative references ‘This European Standard incorporates by dared or undated reference, peovisions from other pablications. These normative references are cited at the appropriate places in the text, and the publications are listed hereafter. For dated references, subsoquent amendments to ar revisions of any of these pablications apply to this European Standard only when incorporated. in it by amendment or revision.
