The Real Estate Transfer Tax is a one-time sales tax paid
when a property is bought. It doesn’t affect property taxes.

Ballot Question 1 restructures the transfer tax to make

it fair. Only property sales worth more than $1 million will
see an increase.

Anyone buying a home for less than $1 million will receive

a tax cut—that’s 93% of Chicago homebuyers.
