The Teacher starts the lesson by asking the students about


their talents or abilities.
Warm-up
The teacher model the first one eliciting participation.
(3 min) T&Ss
E.g. dancing, singing, doing karate, speaking many
languages.

The teacher asks the students to pay attention to a series


of videos abut BGT TV show.
After watching the teacher asks:
 What were the videos about?
Introduction
 How many talents or abilities could you see and
(7 minutes) T&Ss
which ones?
 All of them have talent?
 Which one was your favorite or the most talented?

Presentation The teacher writes on the board some sentences about the
(10 min) T&Ss videos.
- He can play the piano
- He can’t sing
- They can not dance
- He can sing
- He can juggle
- Can she draw? Yes, she can

Now look at the sentences and lets complete the rules


together:
1. We use can/can’t to talk about ABILITIES/
ROUTINES
2. After can/can’t what is the form of the verb? Do we
use a verb with to?

 Can is a modal verb


 Can is used to express ability or to say that
something is possible.
 Can is the same for all subjects
 The verb that comes after can is the infinitive without
to.
Form
+ subject + can + verb base form.
- Subject + can’t/ can not + base for verb
? Can + subject + base form of the verb

(5 MIN) Ss The teacher asks the students to complete the worksheet
about can/can’t (see appendix 1)
The teacher discuss the answer with the whole class
WRITING
The teacher presents the example of an application to BGT
and then the teacher explains to the students that they
5 minutes must follow the example and write something similar with
their own abilities. They must use CAN AND CAN NOT (if
there is no time this will be a homework)
If there is time students will write their application and the
they are going to present it to the class (this is just in class
*(5 min)
the class went very quickly)
