CONCEPT PAPER

I. PROBLEM DESCRIPTION

1. Training and Development

Skilled teachers are vital to ensure quality education and to achieve the
targets of the sustainable development goal. Teachers can no longer rely on teaching
techniques that developed decades ago. They need to innovate teaching
methodologies to cater to Gen-Z that relies heavily on web resources and social media
as new technologies and tools keep emerging, teachers need to learn and adapt.
Upskilling would help them stay relevant, especially in the virtual classrooms. Short-
term courses also help teachers in understanding the requirements of students and
addressing their psychological needs.
2. Managing Relationship
Healthy work relationship build trust in the workplace and empower
employees to work together more effectively, even if they don’t see each other or
work together often.
The more that the employees know each other and understand each other’s
work, the better they can perform their own jobs. Knowing the next stage of a project
for example helps individual contributors refine their own work. Employees need to
tract their colleagues to deliver what’s needed to keep projects on track.

INTERVENTION PLAN

I. UPSKILLING, RESKILLING AND TEAM BUILDING OF TEACHERS

II. RATIONALE

Schools will need to go beyond traditional teacher position to support new

demands on teaching and learning to next increasing demands on capacity and
physical phase. Regardless of role or title all positions will necessitate in new
knowledge mindsets and abilities.
This school year 2023 teacher workforces knowledge perspective and skills
were directly challenged by the 2 years pandemic and learners hard time recovering
the learning process resulting to poverty learning that most in educational sector
experienced now adays. All teachers must be upskilled or reskilled in order to surpass
these challenges. There is a need to rethink the overall strategy for education. While
Covid-19 brought in some much-needed changes, teachers and policy makers were
not geared for it. The time is right for us to focus on continuous development and
upskilling of teachers. As learners become smarter, educators need to be one step
ahead.
As demand for new capabilities gathers pace, reskilling and upskilling can
enable your organization to develop the skills needed to remain competitive. By
2025, the Forum projects up to 85 million jobs could be displaced by a shift in the
division of labor between machines and humans. At the same time, 97 million new
roles are expected to be created, driven by advances in technology and continuous
digital transformation. Even for the talent that is able to remain in their same roles,
the expected share of core skills that will change is 40%. This emphasizes the
desperate need for reskilling and upskilling in every job, department and company,
and with major change coming by 2025, the time to start is now.

Today’s talent looks for employers with a commitment to their future career
development. Not only does a career pathing strategy attract talent to your
organization, it increases motivation and retention levels among your employees.
Career pathing also creates internal movement, both laterally and vertically, and
visibly demonstrates that your organization values its people.

As the speed of digital transformation continues unabated, an effective career

pathing strategy that incorporates reskilling and upskilling is beneficial for both
employees and HR. Even more so, this must be a talent imperative for your
organization if you wish to keep up with the changing market of skills.

There is also a need to give focus on the relationship among teachers in the
school. Since when teams work together, it fosters creativity and innovation in the
workplace. Employees communicate and collaborate more. This improves their
performance and efficiency, resolves conflicts and misunderstandings, and makes
people more accepting towards each other. More people start getting recognized
which motivates them and others to achieve more and better the next time. This
improves the company’s overall bottom line and simultaneously fosters a positive
and motivating workplace culture.

III. REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE AND STUDIES

“At the end of the day, moving from access to quality, it will take place in
the classroom that’s why the most important component here is [the] teacher,”
said Briones as she underscored the importance of upskilling teachers in winning
the “battle” for quality education.

“We want to produce quality learners; therefore, we should have quality

teachers,” she added.

Talking with teachers and upskilling them are among the efforts initiated
by DepEd after the results of the 2018 Programme for International Student
Assessment (PISA) showed the country’s’ low ranking at 79th out of 79 high and
middle incomes countries.

Great teachers identify students' talent and encourage them for a better
future. It enhances confidence and skills in the students by engaging with the teachers
regularly. Providing workshops and inclusive training will make teachers more
productive and give them more time to focus on the student instead of paperwork.
The education industry is booming and we have witnessed a profound change
in the field of education. Rapid development and skill enhancement for teachers are
the need of the hour. Chalkboards have transformed into whiteboards and
PowerPoint presentations. Access to new tools and technology has made education
convenient across all platforms.

Hence, students have a plethora of materials at the tips of their fingers. To

provide quality education, students require a guide, and this is where the professional
teacher comes into the picture. Teaching is an evolving skill because a good teacher
needs to keep on upskilling herself to be able to engage the students productively in
the class and ensure the intended outcome in our learners. (India today Web,2022)
Teamwork makes the dream work.

You must have heard this phrase countless times. What does it mean? Simply
that you can achieve your biggest obstacles if you have a team that shares a common
goal and works together to achieve it. A team that works together performs and
excels. They know what their purposes are and how exactly they can go about
achieving it- together.

As Andrew Carnegie rightly said, “...It is the fuel that allows common people to
attain uncommon results.”

Therefore, I am going to delve deeper into the importance of team building

and how it translates directly to high-performing teams (Shreya Dutta 2022)

IV. Problem Areas

The focus of this study is for the professional growth of teachers

through providing appropriate trainings and enhance good relationships
among them in an organization.

V. Expected Outcomes

Upskilling and reskilling of teachers to promote organizational growth

through having depth understanding on the ability’s skills, knowledge,
potentials acquired and use them in the classroom situations.

Enhancement of camaraderie to school and community among teachers

and stakeholders. Work as one and achieve the goal for the fulfillment of the
DepED Mission and Vision.

VI. Strategies to be Employed

The school through the School Head and Master Teacher will conduct
Result Based Performance Management System (RPMS) review and let the
teachers accomplish the ESAT. The Master Teacher will now then collect and
consolidate the result, and this will serve as the basis for teachers training
needs for professional growth. The School Head together with the Master
Teacher of the school will now make a training matrix and design for
upskilling and reskilling and team building of teachers. The mentoring and
coaching of teachers by the School Head and Master will be conducted all
throughout the school year.

VII. Expected Outputs

Outstanding teachers, increase of learners academic performance,

harmonious working environment, active participation and support of
parents and stakeholders.

X. REFLECTION

You cannot mandate productivity; you must provide the tools to let people
become their best.

-Steve Jobs-

Teaching is tough specially nowadays that the demand of work

increases and at the same time facing the learning poverty brought by the 2
years pandemic. Schools suffers from decreasing learners’ academic
performance and increasing number of non-readers. Action Research,
innovations are challenging task assigned to teachers just to find ways on how
to address the gaps and that most of us teachers needs upskilling on this
aspect. As Steve Jobs state in his line leaders must provide the tools so that
teachers become best teachers to learners.

Nothing is the hardest thing if harmonious relationship exists in the

working environment.
