Internship Report, Batch of 2011-13
Shailesh J. Mehta School of Management witnessed yet another successful and
encouraging summer placements process this year. Summer Placements 2012 saw an increased
number of companies participating in the process compared to last year. SJMSOM is
increasingly becoming the preferred destination for many industry majors looking for summer
interns. The average stipend offered was INR 73.6 thousand, while the highest and median
stipends offered were INR 3.5 lakh and INR 48 thousand respectively. The variety of profiles on
offer for students has increased over the past few years. Companies from diverse sectors like

BFSI, Consulting, IT/ITeS, Manufacturing and FMCG participated in the process this year.

The sector wise split for the various companies which participated in this year’s process is as

follows:

Banking and Financial Services (BFSI)

Organizations like Barclays Capital, DBS (Development Bank of Singapore), Standard Chartered,
Edelweiss Capital, Citibank, Everstone Capital, Reserve Bank of India, ICICI Bank, J P Morgan, etc.

Profiles offered include Investment Banking, Credit Under-writing, Corporate Finance, Credit

Risk, Corporate Banking, Corporate Finance, Business Intelligence, etc.

Consulting

Within Consulting, Deloitte and Capgemini Consulting were the biggest recruiters. Sector
specific consulting roles were offered by firms like Emergent Ventures and GeP. Arbutus
Consulting Pvt. Ltd., a boutique consulting firm too recruited from SJMSOM this year.

Profiles offered include Business Consulting, Procurement Consulting, IT Consulting, Energy

Consulting, etc.

Consumer Goods

This emerged as the most preferred sector with 27% of the batch opting for internships in this
domain. Some of the companies which recruited interns were P&G, Philips, Kraft Cadbury,
Johnson & Johnson, Colgate-Palmolive, Marico, Heinz, Britannia and Asian Paints. Students also

secured offers from first time recruiters like Titan and Berger Paints.

The profiles offered to the students include Sales, Marketing and Supply Chain Management.

Technology / IT

Industry majors in the IT and Telecom sector like Microsoft, Texas Instruments, Tata
Communications, eBay, Wipro, etc. participated in this year’s process, offering various profiles

like IT consulting, Eco energy consulting and marketing.

Manufacturing

Global manufacturing firms reaffirmed their faith in the capabilities of SJMSOM students by
offering some of the most sought after profiles. Ford, Bekaert Steel, Cummins, Dr.
Reddy's Laboratories Ltd, etc. offered profiles in the domains of Marketing, Corporate Finance,

Logistics and Procurement.
