new chemical supply chains for emerging sustainable industries.
Laboratory Engineer
Marine Biologics Inc. is hiring a biochemical/process engineer with experience in compound extraction (chemical &
physical) from seaweed biomass and biochemical quantification methods (colorimetry, eg.). The successful
candidate will also possess skills in Size Exclusion Chromatography characterization. Understanding of enzymology
is preferred. The candidate should be familiar with upscaling strategy and have an interest in designing a
semi-continuous or continuous flow extraction line, from laboratory scale to pilot scale.
Responsibilities
The engineer will be operating laboratory work with close connection with the CTO. The engineer shall be
responsible for the following tasks:
● Biomass characterization
● Compile a literature search for extraction methods of polysaccharides
● Apply biochemical quantification protocols
● SEC fractionation
● Develop and standardize quantitative and qualitative parameters of extracts / fractions
● Design a pilot scale extraction line
● Concise and clear weekly reporting of experimental results
● Responsibilities can evolve through time
Compensation
Full-time and on-site, market rate, french permanent contract (3-month trial).
Additional information
Expecting starting : March/April 2024
Conversational level in English and French requested
Need to be motorized (driver’s license and car)
