Instruction: Identify pain points regarding public transportation and conduct a survey to know
their rating on the pain points. The survey must have at least 50 respondents.

Answer:
Public transportation is one of the most critical factors in running a country's economy. It
is essential for bringing people to work or school. Public transport in the Philippines is terrible,
and from experience, it takes at least an hour to travel 15 kilometers from one place to another
by jeepney. Private vehicles can cover 15 kilometers in less than 15 minutes, given that there is
no traffic in the area. This report talks about the pain points of public transportation as well as
the ratings of respondents on the pain points of public transportation. The researchers were
able to obtain 53 respondents for the survey.

Pain points regarding public transportation

1. Long travel times for short-distance travel
2. Low to average comfort for public transportation
3. The average availability of public transportation
4. Increased fare prices for public transport
5. Long queuing time for public transport

As per the results obtained, the majority of the respondents are students who use PUJs
as their mode of transportation. The result shows that all of the respondents are aware of the
problems of being a commuter in the Philippines, and almost all of them agree that a nationwide
transit train could minimize the public transportation problem.

Data Analysis

Our survey results showed that there are 53 respondents, which consists of 48 students
and is mostly between 18 and 30 years old. Public transportation is often used by the
participants, and 27.5% of them commute five (5) times a week. The graphs show that 1–15
kilometers are the traveling distances of the commuters, who spend at least PHP 50–200 a day.
Public utility jeepneys (PUJs) are the most used kind of transportation; unfortunately, travelers
spend 30–120 minutes traveling a day and experience poor quality service. Survey respondents
are aware of the commuting problems that we are facing, like poor public transportation
systems, long queues, traffic jams, expensive rates, security, etc. The purpose of PhiLoop, the
cross-country hyperloop maglev transit, is to avoid or lessen the problems that most Filipinos
are experiencing by introducing a nationwide train transit. Most of the respondents are willing to
pay for a subscription for this project, and they suggested that PHP 30–40 is the ideal minimum
fare and an additional PHP 4 per kilometer. Most participants are also willing to pay PHP
1000–1500 for unlimited use that is good for one month.

Conclusion

The survey's findings revealed that 53 respondents, the majority of whom were between the
ages of 18 and 30, commuted five days a week and spent between PHP50 and PHP200 per
day on public transportation. The goal of PhiLoop is to ease commuting issues by establishing a
national train transit system. For a subscription and an extra PHP 4 per kilometer, the majority of
respondents are willing to pay to help them with their daily traffic issues. The result of the survey
proved that commuters are currently suffering from the poor availability of public transportation
services. They also waste more time waiting for available public transportation.

A nationwide transit system could be helpful in solving the current transportation pain points in
society. The mag-lev technology of the transit could propel the train faster than usual transits
like MRT. The mag-lev transit will also operate underground, meaning that it will not consume
land above ground for its rails. This feature will benefit not only the users of PhiLoop but also
daily commuters that use public roads for their vehicles because there will be no transit
structure, like rails, that will interfere with traffic flow above ground. The subscription service
option will also provide better queueing time for passengers by removing the time needed for
acquiring or buying tickets. In conclusion, PhiLoop could solve multiple transportation pain
points that commuters are currently suffering from.
